"Y/N?" Jacob's voice comes through the phone
"umm yeah, how did you-"
"Nick said to call this number, we tried contacting you" he cuts me off, I look back at the avengers who are staring at me again, I shrug at them confused as to what's going on.
"Ok? is everything ok? I've got a flight booked tomorrow to come home" I say hesitantly having a bad feeling
"Y/N I don't really know how to say this and I don't want to say it like this but" he pauses, I turn and make eye contact with Tony as a worried look consumes my face making him turn his chair to me. "Y/N it's Nan and Pa, they, well uh they're" his voice begins to break
"No" I whispered making Tony's face turn to worry "Jacob No, no, no" that's all I can get out.
"I'm so sorry Y/N, they're both gone" he finishes as his voice brakes. I drop the phone as it shatters on the ground, I stand there frozen now staring at the ground, my eye heavily begin to water. Suddenly the glass cups on the tables smash.
"No, no, no" I say coming back to focus, I turn to the employee next to me completely ignore the footsteps coming towards me "have- have you ummm, have you got a phone I can quickly borrow please?" I stagger over my words. A hand places on my shoulder as the lady hands me her phone "Thank you I'II be just one second" I say turning around and push past the avengers and making my way out of the shop. The second I'm out I dial the SHIELD number, Tony rushes out followed by Nat and Clint fast behind.
"Y/N what's" Clint begins
"Shhh" I cut him off holding my finger up as I turn away from them listening to the ringing, it picks up.
"hel-"
"Get me Nick Fury, now!" I yell not wanting to talk to anyone else. I take a deep breath to calm myself down, I hear the phone get passed.
"Y/N" he begins
"Is it TRUE!" I yell cutting him off, my eyes burn as tears begin to form as my voice breaks. Nothing but silence on the other side of the phone.
"I'm sorry" is all he says, my arm falls still holding the phone I shove it to Tony as I walk down the street. I search for either of their minds, I find my brother's, Nick's, Maria's, but not their's. I gasp for a breathe as my hand goes to my heart. I try so hard to keep the tears from falling down because I know that once they start all the emotions I've built up will come out, the shop window I'm standing in front of shatters, all of the avenger runs to me, another window shatters.
"Y/N hey Y/N breath" Tony comes in front of me grabbing my shoulders "calm down Y/N breath" a streetlight smashes, then another, then another until I take a deep breath closing my eyes quickly calming myself down using training from Hydra. (We were taught how to turn our emotions off so we didn't waste time and also so we didn't loose control over our abilities)
"I'm ok, I'm ok" I say calmly opening my eyes again, I stare into Tony's eyes and give him a nod. I turn away and walk back into the shawarma shop to give the lady her phone back before I take a seat at out table and begin to eat someone's shawarma. "Fuck my life" I say chewing on the shawarma. And there goes my emotions switch, off.
Later
After I shut my emotions off complete metaphorically as we all meet to watch as Loki and Thor prepare leave.
"Hold on" I say walking towards them "Now this, heh this is officially goodbye Loki because if you step foot on my planet again, I will bring your insides to meet your outsides"I say in a threatening as I smile lightly, he gives me an intriguing look back it quickly disappears, i move to go back to standing next to Tony again. And like that they disappear.
I say goodbye to Tony and Bruce as they get in the car together, "Oh Fish here" Tony stops me as he opens his glove box throwing me a small box. I open it and see a pair of bottle green gloves to match my suite "the black one's just stood out too much with the suite, you're welcome also keep in touch with me, anytime you wanna talk and I mean anytime, expect my me time don't call me in my me time" he added as he slid his sunglasses on, "wait there's one more thing and your not saying no" he says as he reaches into his back pocket pulling out some slips of paper. He hands them to me and I look down and see 5 cheques of $2,500 each, I hold them and look up at him speechless.
"One for you and each of the boys, I know it's not much but it'll help to you know get you all through this" he finishes in a sympathetic tone as he holds out his hand for us to do our handshake just before he speeds away. I smile and shake my head, "god now I'm stuck wearing gloves and owe him money, one of a kind you are stark" I mutter as I turn and give Steve a nod he rides off on his motorbike. I walk up to Nat and Clint.
"Where are you two gonna go" I ask
"Wherever we're needed" Clint replies smirking
"Y/N" Nat begins
"don't, I'll be fine, eventually. Maybe in a year or 20 but eventually" I lie cutting her off not wanting to talk about it. "now don't get into too much trouble you two, I don't want to have to come rescue you" I add on changing the subject
"Please we'll call either of your brothers before we call you" Clint throws back smiling, causing us all to laugh.
"Agent Barton, Agent Romanoff, it was a pleasure doing business with you again" I say slowly walking away still facing them
"Likewise Agent Fisher" Nat replies as she gets into the car
"See ya soon Fish" Clint finishes getting in the car as well.
I sign "I love you" behind my back as the drive off. Hydra always taught us that love is weakness so my brothers and I would sign it to one another as it was the only true think they ever told us.
I walk away and reach down into my pocket pulling out my burner phone, I dial a number and listen to the ringing and it stops
"You've reached the voicemail of Carl and Mary Fisher leave a small message after the beep". I shut my eyes holding back my tears
"HAPPY EXTRA BELATED BIRTHDAY PA!" I sign looking down at the ground as I lean against the car. "I uhh... I... I'm so sorry" I pause and take a deep breath blinking away tears, "I'm coming home" I finish hanging up and getting into the car and begin making my way to the airport.
The two people that I grew to love, the first two people that I let into my life that weren't from Hydra, the two that helped us all over come the trauma were both gone like that. The only family besides my brother's who wanted us, took us in, rescued us, let us go into the world and be who we wanted to be. They supported me as an agent, they supported us all, I remember when I went away with Nick for the first time I called them every single night. It became tradition, it's only been that past 6 months that I held back on keeping contact. I mean I would write a letter every week but that's about it. I gave up the last moments I had with them to be fighting off alien robots. Deep down I knew that they would have been proud knowing what I was doing, actually trying to save lives, but that didn't make me feel any better.
My life just changed completely, I don't know what this is going to do to my family, to my brother's, to me. This was really going to push how far we had all come, but I knew that I have to be the strong one, we won't survive this if we're all broken. One of us has to not be so they can put all the pieces back together.
