Inhuman

the nightmare

I was with my parents on a day out having fun. We went to the fair and the arcade and we were enjoying our time together. It was my 8th birthday and we were playing in the park, they were chasing me trying to tag me.

"Get back here, Eclipse" my dad chuckled as he finally catches up to me."You'll never escape me." My dad jokingly said after he caught me and picked me up off the ground.

He started to tickle me and I started to laugh with a smile on my face. I looked behind my father to see my mother approaching us.

"Come on we need to get home so we can have our dinner honey" my mother said with her accent slipping out as she speaks.

I ran into my mother's arms, "mother, mother did you see how fast I was when father was chasing after me."

My mother looked at me and gave me a smile before placing me back down on the floor. "Yes I did honey. Did you enjoy your birthday today?"

"Yes I did mother, I wish this day could last forever" I said to my mother.

My mother looked up from me and looked behind my father and saw our good friend Seamus. We all looked towards him as he approached us. My father gave a worried look.

"Seamus what's wrong? You were only supposed contact us if something happened while we were away." Said my father as he approached Seamus.

Seamus just stared at my father before saying "I'm sorry about this but I have to do this."

He stared at my father before pulling out a pistol and shooting my father three times in the chest. I screamed as my father's body dropped to the floor with his eyes still open. My whole body was frozen, as Seamus stepped forward towards my mother before staring at her and then shooting her twice in the chest.

Her body fell to the floor beside me. My world started to spin as it felt like I was in slow motion. I looked between my mother and father and tears started to blur my vision as my knees buckled and I fell to the floor.

I reached out to hold my parents hands for the last time before my father slowly said " You'll never be alone,l as you'll have people by your side and we will be watching you...And one last thing you will be a great friend to anyone that meets you."

I felt my father's hand go limp as he finally closes his eyes. I looked towards my mother to see her eyes were already closed and her body was limp.

I stood up and started to walk away, but as I walked away I heard a little voice from behind me say to me "It's time to wake up now,Luna."

My eyes shot open as I realised I had the nightmare again.l
