Okay guys...I got too excited, so let's start this two days earlier ;)

Next update planned on the 05/01/2022

"As to follow the new provisory law concerning Omega representation and protection, it has been decided that the free spot as head of the New York institute will be filled by a qualified Omega as the co-head next to the already present Alpha. Both will have equal say and authority as well as responsibilities towards the Clave and the Council. We will all show them respect and listen to each of their words. Representatives of the clave: let me introduce you to Maryse and Alexander Gideon Lightwood. The heads of the New York institute!" Consul Penhallow stepped aside as the two announced people entered the room and stepped on the stage where she had previously stood. Her heart beat quickly as the Alpha and the Omega who would determine the future of the Clave looked through the people who had voted the in. Well, three hundred and two of the six hundred representatives. Many of the conservative Alpha men and women growled disapprovingly, angry pheromones polluting the air. Consul Penhallow noticed a small bead of sweat on the omega's neck as the sweet scent of the very same entered her nose. He was struggling, but there he stood, not looking even phased. It only reminded her of how hard it had been for her to pass this law. She knew that many had only voted to try to reduce the hate crimes against Omegas over the world, not because they wanted actual Omega leaders. Especially one like the boy who stood here: sixteen, gay and the as weakest considered Omega qualification. Alexander Gideon Lightwood had presented as a Supreme Omega barely a few weeks back. She watched as he walked towards the microphone before his mother got to say a word, which though it shouldn't have, shocked her. Many gasps and growls were heard as he started to talk.

"Thank you, Consul Penhallow" the boy started flashing a respectful smile at her. Then, he nodded at the people sitting and ogling him.

"Good afternoon. As previously introduced, my name is Alexander Gideon Lightwood and I, alongside Maryse Lightwood, am the new head of the New York institute, replacing Hodge Stakeweather who has fallen in battle. Today I stand here in front of you to pledge my loyalty to you. I, by the Angel, swear to protect our institute with everything that is possible. I swear that I will be loyal to the clave. I swear by the Angel that I will respect and enforce the law for shadowhunters and downworlders alike. I am aware of your doubts, your worries and criticism concerning my classification colliding with my job. However, I will prove myself to you.

When we meet again in a year, you will hold the power of making this law definitive or abolish it for possibly over centuries.

I know that many of the people here are ready to sign the abolishment of this trial law, and if you decide to do so, I will bow to the power of the clave.

But here I am, making a request you may not expect as the very first act as head of the New York Institute: watch us as closely as you possibly can. Observe the good and the bad, compare us to others, judge us if you like. So when the day comes in which you will have to decide whether you will allow Omegas to succeed, you won't have to simply guess, you'll know" the entire hall stayed silent, stunned. Alec could see that not even the Consul had expected him to give an entire speech. As he stepped away from the microphone, he had to force himself to hide just how much the oppressive scent of the Alphas affected him, basically ordered him to kneel. It cost him even more effort to stand straight and seemingly unbothered like a warrior on duty while his mother talked but he'd promised himself that he'd be strong. Finally, after five more minutes they were dismissed and were allowed to leave the hall. Alec slumped in the next couch he located as soon as the door closed behind them. His mother immediately sat down by his side as he finally allowed himself the full body shudder, he'd held back the entire time while the pheromones his body had released due to his distress now filled the room. Wordlessly, Maryse hugged Alec her own pheromones soothing her son a little. Alec leaned into her hug, grateful that she had always supported him since his very early childhood.

"I'm proud of you, Alec. You did well" she said. Maryse knew how much it had cost her son to look like an Alpha soldier to get these conservative idiots to listen to him. Be it because of his young age, his sexuality, or his Supreme Omega status, she knew that most were skeptical.

"Thank you, mom" Alec replied as he pulled out of the hug. Barely seconds later the door reopened, and Consul Penhallow joined them. Her face seemed tense, yet the voice she used a gentler tone than her face announced as soon as she smelled the pheromones that clearly showed off his distress.

"Well done, Mr. Lightwood. I believe it's needless to say that there is a lot of skepticism which you will have to face since your status is sadly considered as inferior. You may leave now and take entire leadership of the New York institute. Don't do anything that would justify them to take away your rights." With that she turned around and left the hallway. Alec swallowed.

He had a year.

One year to prove that he deserved the right to lead, that he had the ability to rule, just like the rest of his kind did.

It was unfair.

However, their mantra would never change.

The law is hard, but it is the law.
