don't play it now but when i say, play 'count on me' by bruno mars'
my alarm has probably been going off for about 15 minutes...
as I reach to hit my phone I knock it off my bedside table and it makes contact with the wood floor with a bang.
'please don't be cracked' i said lifting it from the ground. i hesitantly turn it around and 'phew' its not broken. the sun floods my room as a result of forgetting to close my curtains. Once, i pull myself out of my cozy blanket I make my way to the bathroom to shower and get ready.

30 minutes later i stroll out wearing some blue jean shorts, an off white NY shirt, some b&w Nike high tops and a couple layered necklaces for accessories

[kay play the song]
i drag my suitcase downstairs and load the rest of my stuff into the car. 'bye mom' i say while she hugs me. we stay like that for a moment before her hug grows tighter, 'um mum, you can let go now. i can't breathe.'
mom: she sighs, 'okay but call me when you get the chance'

'hey, this was your idea i remind her.

mom: 'i know, i know. goodbye sweetheart.'

i walk to my car and just before i get in i turn and wave back at her. then, I shut the door and begin my drive.

camp is about a 45 minute drive but the scenery in pretty nice. the highway is bordered by great american elms and you can almost see every shade of green. Sage is my favorite by far though.
i spot an eagle about a yard away just low enough to graze the tops of the trees.
not many cars are on the road but its a Sunday so usually it's quite peaceful.

Finally i turn onto the road that leads me straight to camp. The big wooden sign welcomes me into the area. Camp Jackson, NH
[i don't think its an actual camp name but I have been to Jackson, NH so here we go.]

i drive under the sign and park in the small lot at the entrance to camp jackson. i follow a group of people - about my age - into the place where you register.
-
'next' one lady says. she must be a counselor here.
counselor: 'name please honey'
-
'Erica, Erica Perez' i stutter.
-
counselor: 'right you're cabin 12. and looks like your roommate is already here *she says looking through her list of names* 'when you leave the main building just follow the path and its the second last one. got it?' she hands me the key and an itinerary
-
'yeah, thank you!!' i take the keys and paper from the counter and carry on through to the main hall. I have to push past a few people who don't seem to care that they are in the way but it doesn't really bother me.
I push open the glass door and there are the cabins. 7 on each side of the dirt path. Not too small and appear clean and almost modern from the outside. lets hope they look this good on the inside...
each cabin looks identical with 4 small steps leading to the front door. Mostly wooden with a beige kind of colored paint on the outside.
that's when i finally find my cabin. Cabin 12.

I breathe out and turn the handle to reveal a pleasantly quiet and clean cabin.

[i don't have a specific photo of what the room would look like. this is what i pictured in my head while writing this. :) ]

there are two 'single beds' on opposite sides of the open room. to my left there is a doorway that leads into a small kitchen area. and to my right, a narrow but satisfactory bathroom. i walk over to the two beds and grasp that someone else has already arrived, just like the lady mentioned. I hoist my suitcase onto the remaining bed and slowly unpack my stuff which helps me settle into the cabin. well, sort of.
I then explore the rest of the place making myself familiar. the only thing i haven't seen is the porch. I stroll over to the screen door and step out onto the wooden deck. The breeze gently lifts my hair off my shoulders, the fresh air feels so good.
'I'll admit this. is. niccce.'

'i know.'
