I've always thought that life was really strange. Just think about it. Isn't it weird how we are here on this planet called Earth with protective skin, hair all over the place, lungs to breathe, legs to walk, and all of our weird senses. I learned as a kid that we were created by God and then put on this Earth but I never knew why. I was told there was a purpose for me but I have yet to figure out what it is. As of right now, my purpose is to sleep. I am constantly sleeping and have been for twenty years. I bet you are wondering how I know it has been twenty years but there is a routine that the doctors do here in the hospital.

Every morning at 9:00, nurse Hannah comes in and says, "good morning, Elaina. How did you sleep?"

After saying that ridiculous line she laughs at herself. I honestly don't find her hilarious but that is just my opinion. I know for sure that when I wake up I am going to slap her across the face. But anyways, after that nonsense, she checks my vitals and tells me about her night while I am forced to lay here and listen. After hearing about her cat named Daisy and her dog named Toby, she brings in another nurse to talk about my vitals.

For the past fifteen years they have been worried about me because they have been saying that I am not aging. I personally do not have a problem with it because then I am not missing much but I apparently am. Besides me not aging, the nurses talk about politics a lot and how we have fallen into a caste system and they speak about the war with France. I don't know much about it but I guess I will find out when I wake up.

Getting back to the routine, after talking about my anti-aging magic, the nurses get Dr. Hamphrey. Dr. Hamphrey is my nightmare. He is a horrible person but we will get to that later.

"How did she sleep?" asks Dr. Hamphrey as he charms the nurses. Nurse Hannah is in such awe of him and I can not wait to ruin that for her some day.

Dr. Hamphrey looks at my vitals and makes sure I am okay and then they walk about of my room and Everett walks in. Sweet and lovely Everett walks in and reads to me every day. I am pretty sure he just comes to read to me because he needs community service for his caste but I feel a connection to him. I have never seen Everett and I haven't spoken to him but I feel so connected to him. I guess we will just see what happens when I wake up.

Now, I bet you are wondering how I even got here. The last thing that I remember happening in my life when I was awake was a car accident. After a night at the bar with my best friend, Bethany, I was driving her home. I did not have a sip of alcohol because I promised her I could be her designated driver that night. I was driving to Bethany's house when a car drove through a red light and hit the passenger side of the car. I am not sure what happened to Bethany and I have not stopped thinking about it for twenty years but I was put into a coma.

A lot has happened since I got into my coma but we will eventually get to that.
