you fell at a young age and when you made it to toriel, you got to work on a mask using materials, that you found lying about, and promised toriel, that you'll stay safe and watch out, for monsters and any new humans, that very night you fled, not before writing toriel a letter.

letter: dear mum, I'm sorry for running off and disappearing, but I'm going to try reason with asgore, i know it seems foolish, but i might be able to help him understand, that murder doesn't get justified by a kings duty, if i don't return within thirty days, then it's safe to assume something bad happened.

during that night you snuck about, the only friends you had, were the shadows and the cold, once you snuck into waterfall, you found the hero of the underground undyne.

undyne: what are you doing up at night?

MC: just take me to asgore, i wish to have a pleasant talk with the king, i mean no ill will, if i find that his actions motives outweigh the sins, i will help him break the barrier early, and get you all out, if not, then I'll return to my home.

undyne: fine, but what business do you have with the king?

MC: it's a personal matter, but the one who took me in and made me feel at home, despite my distorted appearance under this mask, she let me stay with her, treated me as the child i am.

sans: so you finally made it. the end of your journey is at hand. in a few moments, you will meet the king. together... you will determine the future of this world. that's then. now. you will be judged. you will be judged for your every action. you will be judged for every exp you've earned. what's exp? it's an acronym. it stands for "execution points." a way of quantifying the pain you have inflicted on others.

Sans: when you kill someone, your exp increases. when you have enough exp, your LOVE increases. LOVE, too, is an acronym. it stands for "level of violence." a way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. the more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. the more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. the more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others.

sans: ...but you. you never gained any LOVE. 'course, that doesn't mean you're completely innocent or naïve. after all, you did chose to go through the night.

MC: most would be in bed at that time, less confrontation, less chances to mess up and end up hurting someone, that did nothing wrong, if anything i only blame myself for my actions, there is a reason i came here, i wanted to talk to the king, face to face, not to fight, so far, your the only one to see through this mask, and therefore, the only one who sees that I'm human, but if asgore is just as observant, or pieces together the fact its a mask, then i will be left with little choice but to defend myself, i won't kill him, but i won't leave him unharmed, but i have no intention of hurting anyone.

after sans gave you the all clear you went to the king.

MC: your highness, can we talk?

asgore: sure, what brings you here?

MC: i came from quite far, the walk here was quite long, but i came to ask you one simple question, why, why kill them humans? once the humans on the surface find out, not a single one of us will be spared, *notices some movement* oh, now i see, you don't have any blood on your hands, my apologies, it seems i didn't get all the facts, come on out, i already know your there, what would your mother think?

alice: who are you?

MC: i go by MC, your mother thought asgore killed you all, she didn't know that you got all the way here.

alina: Mrs toriel ...

jason: that just ain't right, why does she outweigh our happiness?

MC: *removes mask* it doesn't, but did you ever consider the fact, that you could have given her a call, or made it so she calls you, to check on you after a while? i gave thirty days to return, just so she knows I'm still alive, but any mother would morn her children, if she thought they died.

All the other children took time to think, asgore decided to call toriel, who didn't answer.

MC: I'll get it, don't worry, also promise me you won't kill anyone, I'm counting on you to keep them safe and if I am to return soon, then toriel didn't want me to come back.

after getting back near the ruins, with sans help, you knock, tell a knock knock joke to try ease the situation, you hear toriel laughing on the other side of the door.

MC: I'm glad to hear you again, mum, the others are actually still alive, I felt them hug me, saw them, there all well and good, not a scratch on them.

Toriel:...

MC: Alina I think was the name of one of them, she remembered and by the seems of things, felt terrible that she left you.

MC: can I come back inside, and talk to you face to face about it.

Toriel: no, he left me, and I won't be deceived.

MC: then ask me something, only you and me would fully know the answer to.

Toriel: how many kids do I have?

MC: nine, two before you left asgore, both died, one by humans in a misunderstanding, the other by self poisoning, seven came after, seven of them left and six didn't look back to try talk to you, I'm the only one of the seven who came back, like I promised in that letter, I would return in thirty days or less, if I recall it's only been three.

After that she let you enter, you took off your mask, to show that it's you.

She hugs you and acknowledges that they are alive, you told her that asgore, hasn't actually killed any humans, you think he plans on destroying the barrier, by each child using their soul and him using his, to break it with the kids alive at the start.

so you became a watch dog, your job is to keep an eye on any humans, if they are to breach any rules, for example attempting to murder someone, your restraints will be removed, and you will have full reign, to cause as much psychological, physical and emotional trauma as your heart desires.
