Augustus's POV

I was waiting at the restaurant. It's our 3rd anniversary.

I was getting ready to ask the big question.

I know that we have been in a relationship for 3 years and know each other for our whole life but still, it doesn't ease my nervousness.

I couldn't keep sitting so I stood up and started pacing around. I kept on looking at the watch.

She is late.

We decided to meet at 7 pm but it was already 8:30, she was not here.

I started to think the worst. I called her. After the 3rd bell, I decided to go look for her.

I went to her workplace first but she was not there so I was going to her house.

I saw her car in front of her building.

Thank God, she is at home.

I went up to her floor. She may be sick or something otherwise she would have never missed today's date.

I opened the door. What I saw first was two sets of shoes. It was very unusual because one was of a man's shoes. I entered the hall and saw another questioning thing, a man's blazer.

What the hell is this?

The little bit of remaining trust broke when I heard it. They were upstairs, in her room.

I toughen my guts and started walking upstairs.

It was just to confirm the situation so there will be no misunderstanding about what will happen next.

I stood there. In front of the door. My heart was crumbling with every noise. There was nothing to confirm now.

I wanted to run as far as possible but my legs were stuck there.

I took a long breath and opened the door. I didn't want to look so my head was down. I just wanted to let her know of my presence.

"A... Augustus..."

When I heard my name only then I looked up. My eyes met her's.

She looked shocked, but that changed in pain.

So she still thinks of me.

I chuckled inwardly sarcastically. I was numb so I could not feel anything like her, who was crying now.

She covered herself and tried to come to me, but I stopped her.

"I am ending everything here." I took out the thing I bought for her and said. "Happy 3rd anniversary." With that, I left.

I could hear her calling my name but that was the limit of my humanity.

I don't know what I would have done if I stayed a minute longer.

I left, leaving my car there. I was not aware of the direction where I was going.

I was on a bridge when it started pouring. I was so cold from inside that the raindrops felt warmer.

I was so tired that I sat by the railing of the bridge.  I don't remember when I drift off to the past.

'Augustus, I am hungry.'

'I knew it, that's why I already brought your doughnuts on my way here.'

'You know me best.'

'Yeah... yeah. I know whenever you start studying you tend to get hungry.'
