There was a village where a girl, Mariposa, lived. One day she looked up at the sky and watched the birds singing their melodies. She then watches the children play in the grass. She saw the happiness and the youthfulness they showed. She saw the world around her was lovely with the refreshing aroma coming from nature.
She heard the happy melodies of the birds from above and saw the clear blue sky ahead. She saw young women working in the rice field. She saw the beauty in them. In the sun as it gleamed from their hair which were in neat buns. These were some of the things that made Mariposa's life delightful.
But then Mariposa started to think about how every single thing that she knew would soon change in an instant. She knew that the children would age and become weak and die. She also knew that someday, the once beautiful ladies would grow chubby and ugly, and their once gleamed hair would turn into white hair. The trees would start to lose their unique color, which time would bring the trees down in a flash. The lovely flowers that once gave such a pleasant aroma would soon rot and the most undelightful smell. The days would grow short and become cold as each day went by. Mariposa's heart already started to grow teary and uneasy at this thought.
As Mariposa observed the women, as they washed the fresh rice. At some point, something caught her eye. It was that a few beautiful pink flowers had fallen from a sakura tree. Mariposa thought they were beautiful until she saw the tree which was once full of color was now gray from losing just a few flowers. She decided to do something about it. She decided to capture every beautiful thing that she saw with a camera. Mariposa was determined that she must make a board full of all the pictures which also included one video of the beautiful things so that everyone would be overjoyed when they saw them. So, She took out a crest that contained the camera, which was the most important thing she needed. She also took extra supplies just in case something happens while she takes photographs of things.
Mariposa took a picture of the blue sky and a picture of the whiteness of the rice from the fields. She gathers some pictures of the sunlight and the colorful hair of the beautiful woman. Mariposa took pictures of the two sakura flowers and purple birds sitting on top of a bamboo. Mariposa gathered the yellow and green grass. She puts the pictures of these things neatly in her bag. Lastly, She puts the video of the bird's melodies in the bag.
When She had finished gathering the pictures together, She called the children and women together to see the board. Everyone was amazed, but then one of the children touched one of the pictures. All of a sudden, the pictures turn into hundreds of lovely Butterflies! They were full of different colors like red, yellow, green, blue, pink, and purple. They looked like flowers dancing in the wind. They flew all around the delighted children, and a few landed on their heads. The children and the women's spirits soared. They have never seen such incredible things before.
But then a butterfly landed on Mariposa's shoulder and asked her. The butterfly said, "It is not right to give our color to these people! When you took those photographs, you made us butterflies from each pretty thing you captured from that little camera. Those pretty photographs have all of the colors already. Let me ask you, will you take our freedom away, too"?
Mariposa said, "You're exactly right. I made every butterfly here, and I must not have them stay because they would bring happiness". Soon, all the butterflies were free and spread across the globe, and to this day butterflies are free. Mariposa dreamed that one day the world would lose its beauty and color. The butterflies' color would brighten the people's hearts once again.
The moral of this story is that everything beautiful can always fade away. Or that everything that loses its color there will come into something beautiful. In this case, it was in the form of butterflies. Butterflies have the most colorful wings and are a sight to look at when you come across one.
