*Friday night: night of the party*
“Eleanor, are you sure that I’m not overdressed?” I ask her, tugging on my pencil skirt and fidgeting in my two inch heels.
“I am absolutely positive. You look hot. Now come on, let me get you dancing with a guy and I will be off to find my boyfriend.”
“You never told me you had a boyfriend,” I tell her.
“That’s because I don’t like him very much. It just keeps the perverts away. But, since I am technically dating him I have to at least make it look like it.” Eleanor walks up to a blonde haired guy in the middle of all the dancing and introduces us, “Niall, this is Raleigh. Raleigh, Niall.” She nudges us together and briskly leaves us in the crowd of sweating, dancing people.
“It’s nice to meet you, Raleigh,” he says with a cute grin.
“You’re not British.”
“Irish,” he laughs. “Is that a turnoff?”
“No, no,” I feel my cheeks heat up once again. “I like it. Makes me feel like I’m not the only outsider here.”
He smiles and asks for my hand which I oblige to place in his hand. He leads me out of the maze of people and brings me outside. He continues to maneuver me through people and we finally end up in a secluded garden that provides us privacy with the high walls of trellises.
“You’re very beautiful,” he remarks with his adorable Irish twang.
“Thanks, I uh guess it’s the American aspect that contributes to…” He leans over and places his lips on mine before I could finish the sentence. His soft hands grip the side of my hips. I feel my hands make their way to his shoulders, as if they have a mind of their own. I begin to slowly kiss the attractive stranger, but I suddenly pull back.
“I don’t usually do this kind of thing,” I tell him.
“Neither do I,” he whispers as he leans back in. This time the kiss became more fervent, more longing. I felt his mouth start to slightly open, but I leave mine shut and continue to kiss him back. My hands crawl up to behind his neck and I gently comb my hand through his soft hair. He presses me closer to him and I feel his chest protrude and deflate. We go on for what seemed like a few minutes, but little did I know that I had been captivated by his moist lips for almost and hour when Eleanor came to retrieve me to bring me home.
“I told you the boys would be all over you. However, I am surprised that Niall was the one who made the first move. He’s usually much more reserved,” Eleanor contemplates as she drove.
I smile to myself, England wasn’t too bad after all. Hot boys, great friends, just unfortunate housing arrangements.
“So, I’ll pick you up tomorrow at six?” Eleanor asks interrupting my thoughts.
“Uh, for what?”
“My movie night, silly! I have it once a month, and this will be your first time going to it! It’s a bunch of fun.”
“Who is going?” I ask her .
“Don’t worry, Niall will be there,” she says with a smile.
“I don’t like him,” I inform her.
“Why not? He’s a sweetheart!”
“I don’t know him!”
“Well you can get to know him more tomorrow night,” she says with a wink as she parks the car in front of my temporary house.
“We’ll see,” I tell her as I thank her for the ride and make my way to the front porch.
I reach the front door and dig in my pocket for my key and realized I had left it inside. The two parents were out of town for a business trip, so my only hope was that Kelsey was home. I knock on the door and step back, bracing myself for her verbal attack. Two minutes pass and I step up to the window to look through to see if anyone was home. A pair of eyes meet mine and I let out an inhumane squelch and the figure makes its way to the door and unlocks it.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. Kelsey just left for the store, so I thought she wouldn’t be home for an hour or two.”
“She went to the store at one in the morning?” I question the curly haired boy. I raise my eyebrow.
“She actually went to a friends’ house for the night and I forgot that you lived here, so I thought I’d have the house to myself.”
“Why in the world would you want the house to yourself? This is technically breaking and entering! I’m calling the police!” I exclaim as I try to slide by him in the door frame. He grabs my wrist, brings me inside, and shuts the door. I stand three inches away from the most attractive guy I had ever layed eyes on in the complete dark.
“Please don’t,” he whispers in a raspy voice. He releases my arm, but I remain frigid in the spot I maintained.
“Why?” I whisper back to him. His green eyes began to penetrate into me as he began to explain.
“Don’t tell anyone please…promise?”
“I promise.”
“My parents, it’s gotten bad between them. The neighbors next door can probably hear their shouting and any chance I get out of the house I take it. Please don’t tell anyone, I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me or anything.”
My heart melts for the poor guy. “I won’t call the cops, but you have to sleep on the couch down here, okay?”
“Okay,” he says with a small smile.
I slowly back away as I head to the kitchen. He starts to walk to the living room and flicks the television on. FRIENDS pops up and I take a sudden interest.
“I love this show! Don’t change it,” I tell him as I plop down on the couch next to him. I bring my legs up and my toes slightly touch him as we begin to watch the TV show.
“I love Ross and Rachel. They’re my favorite TV couple ever,” he contemplates aloud.
“Hey, me too!”
“High five!” He exclaims as I bend up and giggle as I slap my palm against his. I lean back against the side of the couch and lay my head on the end as I feel myself slowly drift off into an inevitable sleep.
I wake up the next morning to the glare of the sun pouring in through the tops of the curtains that surrounded the den. My eyes slowly fully adjust and wonder where I was. I twist the other way and see a sleeping curly haired boy with an arm draped around me and pressed up against my side. I quickly sit up and push him off the couch. I hear him let out a groan.
“What was that for?” He asks drowsily as he sits up to face me.
“You fell asleep on me.”
“What! I think you fell asleep first, and I didn’t want to wake you so I left you there. We weren’t even touching when I fell asleep. I guess we must’ve just went to that position in our sleep.”
“You have a girlfriend,” I glare at him as I stand up to go to my room.
“Sorry!” I hear him call out as I make my way up the steps to my room.
