The inconsistent falling raindrops turn into a strong and steady afternoon shower. Although you stay sheltered under the front porch sitting in your favourite rocking chair, you can feel the mist hitting your face and turning your jeans a couple shades darker. You're looking through the fence and over the pastures, at the trees in the far distance. Over where the sky meets the hills. You can see where the sun is still shining not five clicks down that county road. Yet not a care in your mind about the water falling down around. Pushing yourself back and letting yourself glide forward in those cozy wool-lined slipper shoes, humming the tune that's been on repeat in your head. Watching the trees sway in the wind and hearing local birds call out to one another. Listening to the faint sound of traffic echoing off of back roads and distant highways. Nothing else to do but watch the rain come down. And that's all you do, watch the heaven's clean from above. Notice how life fills the earth. Because after a short time of showers falling down, the clouds clear up and the weather turns still. That's when you see it, the colours in the sky. Why that's what they call a rainbow and its shining brighter than ever.
