The party ended shortly after that. Or at least it seemed like it had ended to me. I said goodbye to the new people I had met and collected myself to leave. I looked for Gojo in the array of people but I couldn't find his white hair anywhere. I didn't mind. I wanted to leave. I had totally lost myself and I didnt even get to find out if he could have guessed who I was or not. I didn't like how much I had lost control of myself in the heat of the moment and I decided there and then that I would never let Gojo do anything like that ever again. He got everything he wanted in life, from his jobs to ladies falling at his feet. And I didnt want him to have me, or at least not have me that easily.
I waited outside Nitta's apartment for the cab I had called. The air seemed colder, I could see my breath in the air. The cab arrived a few minutes later and I hopped in. Ready to put the evening behind me. I knew Gojos reputation. I didn't expect anything from him and I didn't want to become another one of his fangirls fooling myself that with me it would be different.
"He is unattainable," I told myself, and I almost believed it.
But there was still a small part of me saying I'm different or with me he could be different, I can change him.
Shut up
I just want him to know that he's not the greatest around and I can be better than him, I am better than him.
....
Monday at school went well. I taught my first class and got to know the students better. On Tuesday, Nitta stopped me in the hallway as I was going on my lunch break.
"Hey! Wait up. How was your first official day as a teacher?" She asked.
"It went really well! The students are a lot fun and have really big personalities which i like. I think we got along well." I liked talking to Nitta, she was easy to get along with and always kind to me.
"I'm glad you got home safely after the party. By the way, how did you like the party? That night was kind of hectic, so I didn't get to check in with you to see how you were feeling."
"Oh don't worry about it, I was going great. I had a fun time and it was really nice to meet all the teachers, and to meet all of Gojos fan girls." We laughed and then Nitta got more serious. She stepped closer, like she was about to say something important that only I could hear.
"You know I was super surprised that Gojo volunteered to play that game."
"Why? It seems like something he'd be into," I giggled again but Nitta just gave me a tired smile.
"Well you know his cursed technique right? He has an infinite barrier around him that never lets anything or anyone touch him. I was just surprised that he let so many people at once get so close to him. Sure he...well he...he has a lot of people interested in him, we all know that," Nitta said like she was trying to find the right word.
"Man whore you mean", I wanted to say, but I held it in and let her continue.
"I mean it was just interesting to me, that's all. I guess I just always pictured him being more cautious with who he let touch him," She finally cracked a smile and said,"But I guess being overly cautious doesn't really seem like him. Does it?"
"No it doesn't," I smiled in return, but I was now questioning what he did at the party too.
"Well anyways, I'll see you later! Have a good lunch," Nitta continued down the hall and I went to my lunch break.Wednesday and Thursday were just the same as Monday. I had not run into Gojo once, which I thought was odd because I knew he was on campus. But I tried not to think about it. On friday I stayed late after school to go over some papers. I sat at my desk, intensely involved in my grading.
"Staying late?"
I instantly knew who it was.
"Just going over a few things," I kept my eyes focused on the pages in front of me.
"I heard that the students are very fond of you," he was walking closer and now stood directly in front of my desk.
"That's good to hear. I'm glad that they dont hate me," I said sarcastically.
"The students aren't hateful kids," he started to play with the pencils on my desk. There was an awkward silence between us. I tried to make it go away. I leaned back in my chair and looked up at him. I asked, "Why are you still at the school this late? Do you also have papers to grade that you're avoiding?"
He laughed, "No, I've already done all my homework for this week. I was actually looking for you."
I tried not to act shocked, "Why?"
"There's something I wanted to do with you," He put his hands on my desk and leaned over, "Could you follow me?"
I nodded and stood up ready to leave.
"Don't forget your homework," He said with a smirk as he stepped through the door.
"That's weird," I thought, but I grabbed the papers like he said and followed after him.
