I stay with the twins, and over time, Wanda and I come to a mutual understanding. I offered to braid her hair, she exchanged it with a walk. She offered food, which started our friendship. I understand her far more, her protective side for her family. Natasha calls every other night. I answer, with stories of Pietro, nothing of use.
She likes Wanda, far more than Pietro. She relates to her, somehow, as an older sister perhaps? She understands Wanda's worry of Pietro.
Pietro knocks on the door to the bathroom. I open it a crack, my hair wet. He grins, trying to push the door open.
"Ha," I roll my eyes. "What do you want?"
His smile fades. "I'm going with Wanda. To meet with Ultron,"
Mine falls as well. "Oh,"
Pietro inhales. "I... I won't make you join me, Ophelia. I'll keep you out of our conversation. If you don't join... I won't be able to talk to you about it,"
I glance at the ground, avoiding his eyes. Damn him. "I'll... I'll do it,"
His eyes flash. "Really?"
"Ultron wants good in the world," I force the words out. "My plans corelate to his. Not the Avengers,"
"You don't have to,"
"I want to,"
Pietro smiles. "Come on, Water Girl,"
I shut the door, inhaling. I pull the water out of my hair, letting it become dry once more. Fitting, I suppose. Wanda peeks her head around the corner. "Are you okay?"
I smile. "Of course,"
"Let's go, American,"
I stick my tongue out at her. Wanda's smile grows slightly. "You've changed my brother, you know,"
I pause my brush, eyes connecting with hers in the mirror. "He talks of you every time you're in the other room. Or he thinks about you," She sees my questioning look and laughs. "Oddly, I can't read your mind,"
"Maybe I don't have thoughts?" I tease.
She giggles. "I tried the first time I met you, just to understand who you were. Pietro's thoughts I run through every now and then, now often. I don't really want to see all his thoughts about you, in case they are..." She flushes. "Private. I... I know you're hiding something," She murmurs.
My eyes connect with hers once more. "I don't know what it is," She continues. "But you are hiding it. Very well. Or my brother's blind with infatuation," She narrows her eyes. "I swear, if you hurt him, I will break every bone in your body,"
"Are you going to tell him?" I ask.
"I already have claimed my suspicions," She crosses her arms, leaning against the door. "But, even though you have secrets, I can tell you are a decent person. He won't believe anything I say. But I suggest you tell him, once you're ready,"
"I will," Or, rather, he'll find out.
"That's all I can hope for, then," Her smile returns. "I find your name interesting, by the way,"
"What do you mean?"
"Ophelia. The girl who drowned? It's remarkable, your story with it,"
"Pietro told you?"
"I found out," She answers, shortly. "But I do find you interesting. My brother went insane from the experiments,"
My eyes flash and she sighs. "I barely held on. He was... totally insane. He recovered about two years ago. I just don't want to see him that way,"
