Keep all negativity to yourself!
I do not post every week. You might get a week row post two chapters in one week or I might not post the chapter for a whole month. This is a work in progress.

I've always known one thing for certain, that I would do something meaningful with my life. Today, I'm going to make that possible. As I walked down the hallway, my shoes tapping rhythmically on the marble flooring, I watched the portraits of past family embellishing the walls, each of them watching me.

As I neared Papi's office, Matteo stopped me, looking down at me with a playful smile hiding his worried interior. Matteo is my middle brother, 23 years old. He has always been there and keeps me smiling, the funny brother.

"He's in a bad mood," He said, a tight line across his lips. His shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, the cuffs at his elbows and a constant aura of flirtatiousness and playfulness surrounding him.

"Don't do it, Natalia." He gave me a serious gaze, his jaw clenched, he knew I was leaving, and yet, he always acted as if I weren't.

"I'm still doing it. I'm 20 years old, Matteo. I can't be here forever." I answered, pushing past him.

As I entered the kitchen, the soft sunlight was peeking through the windows and onto the marble countertops where Papi sat, his lips pursed as he looked through a stack of papers, his eyebrows cinched together.

"Good morning, Princesa." The words falling from his lips without a single smile, his eyes still glued to the parchment, a now blank expression on his face.

"Good morning, Papi." He lifted his head to look at me, lips curling. I gave him a smile,my teeth flashing slightly. The smile he returned didn't reach his eyes like the way I know.

My mother entered the room, a bundle of roses in her arms, the soft pink petals beautiful, "Good morning, bebita," She chirped, moving towards the kitchen island to arrange a bouquet.

"Good morning, Mama," I made my way over to the table, a seat from Papi who sat at the head of the table.

As I sat down, Carlos came hurling down the stairs, leaving as quickly as he came. But, he still never forgot to give Mama a kiss, even if he was ten minutes late to school. She always slid some food into his hand and fixed his collar skillfully.

Carlos is the youngest out of my brothers, 16 years old. He was always expeditious, never a falter in his step.

I have one other brother, Rafael. He's the oldest, 25 years old. The protective brother. All of my brothers are protective, but Rafael is overprotective. Although I used to hate it. Now I miss him.

A year ago Rafael got married to Charlotte Barlowe, his best friend. They never spent a day apart when they were friends and now they're spending the rest of their lives together.

Rafael got away. He was the second in command, but told my father he didn't want to stay in the lifestyle. Now it's my turn, I've always wanted to attend college with my best friend, Sofia. To do something in my life that's not handed to me because of my last name.

"What are you thinking about, Princesa?" My father's soft voice brings me back from my thoughts. His face was still blank as he stared at me, my mind swirling with impeding thoughts.

"Nothing, Papi." I answered, offering him a sweet smile, lying was easy. Something you had to be good at to live our lives.

He clears his throat, staring more intently now as my mother turns away from her bouquet, "There's something I've been meaning to tell you."
