A/N: based off the released episode title of 5x02 "Can't Feel My Face"  This is just where my mind went, lol. Enjoy!

Maya entered the apartment very tired and very glad to be home. "Baby, I'm home!" the firefighter calls out for her wife. As she puts her backpack to the side she glances around the apartment, taking note that it was quiet; too quiet. "Carina?" Maya wonders, seeing that her wife was nowhere in sight. "That's weird, I thought she said she had the day off today" she thinks to herself.

She enters the kitchen, seeing a baking pan on the counter. As she walks toward it she notices the smell of something chocolatey. "Mmmm brownies, don't mind if I do" the firefighter says to herself as she reaches into the baking pan and grabs a chunk of brownie. It was just what she needed after a very long and tiring shift, dealing with her annoying interim Captain.

10 months have passed since Maya was relieved of her captaincy, and although she was glad that she did not lose her job entirely, being demoted back to lieutenant just didn't seem to satisfy the blonde firefighter. She knew what it was like to lead, and she knew that she was damn right good at it. Maya was very determined to see herself climb the ranks once again.

Did she regret any of her calls as captain? No. Maya was proud to put human lives above protocols, and she knew she would do it again. SFD protocols were outdated and put lives at low-priority in high-risk situations, and that was the problem. What angered her more was the fact that Beckett made a call today that clearly went against SFD protocols but somehow as a man in charge, got away with it. Maya was the first and youngest female to make captain of Station 19, and she had lost her captaincy with the same call Beckett made today, just with slightly different circumstances.

Maya couldn't wait to just come home to her hot, sexy, caring wife- but seeing that apparently said wife wasn't home, her Italian wife's brownies would do for now. Normally the blonde firefighter wouldn't indulge in such a chocolatey sweet dessert that went against her diet as a firefighter, but she had the next 3 days off and would gladly put in an extra run in her next workout to balance the calorie in-take. Heck, she would probably lose those calories with the help of her very sexy Italian wife without having to do that extra run. She just had to wait for her hot Italian wife to come home.

For the time-being, Maya grabbed a small plate and placed three more brownies on it, then headed to the living room to see which trash TV series she could binge on while indulging on her chocolatey desserts. She places the plate on the table as she seats herself on the couch, reaching for the TV remote.

"Hmmm...Bachelor in Paradise is on. I guess that could do" Maya says as she lands on the channel. She then places the remote on the table and grabs the plate of brownies. Thirty-minutes into the episode, she finds out that one of the contestants, Brendan, had been playing with another contestant's feelings, Natasha; lying to her saying that he felt a connection, but was just saying that until his actual love interest arrived in paradise. When that said love interest finally did arrive, Pieper, Brendan ditched Natasha the first chance he got.

"See, this is why women shouldn't date men" Maya observed as she munched on her third brownie. She felt for Natasha. Her experience in paradise was based on all lies and no one would want to find a love connection that way.

After finishing the episode, Maya found herself drifting fast asleep. Perhaps she was more tired than she had initially thought. There were a lot of calls today, and less rest time between calls than normal. The blonde let herself drift to sleep on the couch, not bothering to make her way to the bedroom.

1 Hour Later...

Maya shoots herself awake. "Ugghhh, I don't feel good" her head felt dizzy and her heart felt like it was beating 100 mph. She attempts to stand up, wanting to get a glass of water but the second she does so, she feels the world spin around her, and it does not stop spinning, so she sits herself back down. "Arghhh, was this food poisoning?" the firefighter thinks to herself.
