Timothée had found himself quite comfortably flirting with another woman and Amelie had decided she couldn't care less.
And then Harlow bought somebody over to her. Louis. Obviously Harlow knew what she was doing because Louis couldn't stop grinning at Amelie as she reached out to him and kissed him right on the mouth in greeting.
"Hello to you too." He laughed holding her in his arms as a slower song played. She smiled as he held her like he had before she left for New York.
He saw the marks on her neck and didn't say a thing, hoping that if he asked her for an answer there'd be an excuse. And he didn't want to know the truth.
Louis had seen Timothée as he'd walked in with another actress. All he wanted was to remind Amelie of what they had. That it wasn't to be given up on or taken for granted.
He wanted her now.
"Let's go somewhere quieter!" He yelled and Amelie nodded letting him hold her hand and take her to a different table in the VIP section.
They sat across from each other, Louis' hand on her thigh under the table. She smiled at him as he handed her a drink. At least he still knew she drank martini's.
"What are you doing here?" She laughed.
"Harlow called, figured it'd be nice to see you again." He smiled.
They stared into those familiar eyes, all the history between them on display.
"I've missed you so much Ammie." He held her hand.
She smiled and a tear fell slowly down her cheek. "I needed you for so long Louis." She shook her head.
"I know, I'm sorry I let everything go up in flames. I should've been better about the whole fame thing." He squeezed her hand. She let herself cry a little more. "But I want you to know that I can do this now."
She bit her lip and let a few more tears gloss her cheeks.
She saw a shadow over the table. It was Timothée.
"Everything okay over here?" He asked looking at Amelie.
She turned away.
"I don't think we've been introduced." Louis got up shaking Timothée's hand aggressively.
"Nice to meet you man, Louis right?" Timothée stood his ground.
"Everything's fine her man, so why don't you give us a bit of space, okay? Think you've done enough tonight." Louis smiled sarcastically.
"Miel?" Timothée looked to Amelie for an answer.
Amelie looked over his shoulder to see the woman from earlier hovering awkwardly. She got up, wiping her cheeks clean.
"Hey, I'm Amelie - it's lovely to meet you." She smiled at her. She was never one to make anybody feel uncomfortable.
"It's so nice to meet you, Timothée's told me so much - I'm Lily-Rose!" She smiled showing her teeth. She was beautiful.
"Oh really!" She shot Timothée a look still smiling. Only in her eyes you could tell she couldn't care less about him.
"I'm so glad he's got such a good friend to be around when I'm busy!" Lily smiled. It was a little aimed but Amelie ignored it. "You know what it can be like in New York, you can get lonely quickly." She grinned genuinely.
Amelie shrugged. Friend - he was her friend, yeah right.
"Ah well, it was good to meet you, but I think we were just leaving." She looked to Louis who wrapped his arm around her waist. He didn't use to do that.
Timothée was clearly staring at the sight of them together.
"Amelie, can we talk please?" Timothée asked, causing Lily to look at him concerned.
Amelie patted his shoulder. "I'll see you around, you know when you feel lonely." She smiled with fake niceties.
"Amelie." Timothée began.
"We've got a big day ahead of us tomorrow, we should really get going." Louis ignored him looking to Ammie. "You ready, baby?"
She kissed his cheek. "Yeah, let's go." She winked at him slyly.
"Okay well lovely meeting you guys - see you around." Louis smiled at Lily and whisked Amelie out the back door.
If you had been watching, you'd see Lily come behind Timothée and hold his hand as he watched a little dumbfounded for a split second, the empty space where Amelie had stood.
A few weeks passed, Amelie and Louis spending most days together before he had to start working on set. He would hold her hand every chance he got, the press going crazy over their PDA.
Finally, Amelie told him about the project she'd been asked to do. It was to meet Wes Anderson for his new film.
"Amelie! You want to act?" He had asked confused but proud. She shrugged.
"I don't know, I'd never really thought about it but - it could be a good way to get my foot in the door?" She kept walking with him by the Hudson.
She was supposed to be going to dinner with the anonymous lead, and Wes would be watching their natural chemistry from a different table.
It was all very mysterious to her and she was conflicted about her capabilities.
"Just be yourself, they'll love you - I know it." He hugged her and she breathed in.
"Like I do." He whispered. Amelie looked up at him, shocked. She smiled. "I love you." He admitted.
It was simple and sweet and she kissed him.
"You don't have to say anything, after everything I don't expect you to know what to say. But I just wanted to tell you, that I love you Amelie." He spoke louder and she kissed him again.
They continued walking before Amelie headed home to get ready to go to dinner with a stranger.
She decided to wear an A-line mini skirt, huge oversized dinner shirt and black tights. Like the modern Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Her hair pulled up into a knot with baby hairs flying out and two pearl earrings.
She got into the taxi and put on Cigarettes After Sex, reminded of Timothée, she skipped the song.
