Idk if this is any good...but hey, it's something

Stop complaining -_-

As Harmony sat alone on the school bus, listening to her classmates chatter loudly behind her, she realized something. Where months ago, Harmony had wanted this to end...now she realized, starving herself wasn't just a diet. It was a lifestyle.

Wait.

No.

I was a life.

Maybe Harmony wasn't even sick. Maybe she was just finally slimming down.

Harmony smiled to herself as she felt the shakiness of her legs and the goosebumps on her arms. She knew she wasn't normal...but she didn't really care.

The bus pulled to a stop, and Harmony made her way down the steps, to where her mother was waiting on the sidewalk.

"How was your day?" Ms. Wilfeld called as Harmony walked towards her. Harmony shifted her backpack before answering, nearly collapsing as the hundred-pound bag moved back and forth on her back.

"Good." Harmony reached her mother, and they started walking towards their house together.

"Yeah? How was English? Math? Lunch?"

"Good, good, and good. We're finally finishing up with To Kill a Mockingbird. It was a good book, but for some reason our teacher decided we should analyze it for weeks and weeks. Oh, and we had a math test. I think I did okay, but we haven't got the results back yet."

"Oh, I loved To Kill a Mockingbird when I was in school," Ms. Wilfeld commented. "What about lunch, then? You haven't told me about that yet."

"Uh...it was good," Harmony replied vaguely. Why was her mom focusing so much on lunch? Oh no, did she suspect something?

"Did you finish everything?" Ms. Wilfeld wanted to know. "I noticed you haven't been eating a ton lately."

She so suspected something. Harmony had to think fast. She'd gotten so thin already, she couldn't let her mother ruin all her progress!

"I'm sorry. I've had a stomach ache," Harmony lied. "It hurts more when I eat, so I can't finish a lot. I ate most of my lunch, though." Another lie. In reality, Harmony had eaten a tiny bit of food, then tossed the rest, with the exception of a box of carrots, straight into the trash.

"Oh, that's good for you. But a stomach ache? We might need to go to the doctor for that, Harmony."

"No, please. It's just the usual thing," Harmony replied, trying not to sound too horrified by the thought of going to the doctor's.

"Okay, then. Let me know if it gets worse, though," Ms. Wilfeld instructed. "You've been getting awfully skinny. I didn't want to say anything, 'cause I figured it was just stress, but if the stomach ache gets worse, we need to make sure there's nothing wrong with your stomach so that you can keep enjoying the food we buy so much of for you."

"I will." Harmony hid her smile at the accidental compliment as she pretended to agree. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
