"This is boring, she's just laying there." I hear from behind me. I squeeze my eyes shut before opening them, feeling cold pavement pressing against my skin. As I open my eyes, I realize I'm laying on the floor. Looking around, I see reinforced metal walls and a set of metal bars as a door. There is a small plate of food on the floor, consisting only of crackers, water, and a small plum. I sit up and feel the blood rush through my head, and I grab it in pain. Looking through the bars, I see one large figure, a dark haired woman, and a little girl with short hair.
I try to stand up and feel lightheaded. What happened, why am I in a cell, and who are these people? "Soul, she's up!" The girl says. The dark haired woman, apparently named Soul, turns, a smirk on her face. "Well, that's just wonderful. Amari, you may call me Soul. I apologize for the... living arrangements, but until I know I can trust you, you must be under strict supervision." Her voice is almost calming, and sounds familiar. My eyes narrow. "What am I doing here?" I ask quietly, trying to cooperate and buy myself time.
"Well, I regret to tell you, but I believe your path to heroism is a gross use of your talent, Amari. I have watched you from the shadows for years, as your mother was a good friend of mine. She was less than happy to hear my plan for you, however, so I had to take matters into my own hands. But truly, I am doing this for your best interest." She smiles and I am left to think. My mom knows this woman? I've never heard of her before. "In any case, as soon as I am able to see that your behavior is appropriate, you'll have a much nicer experience with me. I believe we'll make a great team, Amari." She whispers something to the little girl, and I realize where I've heard her voice before.
"You were there that night, weren't you? You said his name and he..." I trail off, my eyes welling with tears as I remember the pain in his eyes and voice as he called out to me and fought against the figure. "Where are they? Did you hurt them?" She furrows her brows a bit and turns back to face me. "No, I didn't hurt them. I merely turned their quirks off. You see, my quirk wasn't born to me, I was given it. The power to inherit other's quirks. When I kill a person, their quirk becomes my own. One of the people who met their end at my hand had a cancellation quirk. All that is required is to be able to see the subject and know their full name. Your friends haven't been harmed, they're simply quirkless until I figure out what to do with them."

"Let us out!" I kick the cell door again, and everyone jumps up. "Bakugou, I don't think we're getting out anytime soon." Kirishima sighs, sliding down the bars till he's sitting on the floor. I hear a faint sound of crying and snoring, and I try to make my hands spark again. It still isn't working. "What the hell did you do to us?" I yell out at Dabi and Toga. Toga toys with her knife, swirling it around in her fingers and occasionally pointing to people and giggling. She skips up to Deku, and he backs up in his cell a little. "C'mon Izuku, let me have a taste. You know I wouldn't hurt you too bad." I scoff and yell again. "I'm talking to you! What did you do?!" Dabi rolls his eyes. "I haven't done a damn thing, Bakugou. Just shut up and sit here until we get our orders. We don't want to sit here and watch you, either."
"Dabi, Toga, Shigaraki wants to meet with you." I hear from behind the two. "He wants us to leave these guys alone?" Toga says, still trying to reach Deku through the bars. "Yeah, since Soul cancelled their quirks, they can't do anything anyways." The two make their way to the door. "Don't do anything you'll regret, I have orders to kill if given the reason." Dabi says before walking out, Toga following close behind. "What are they... what are they gonna do to us?" I hear Todoroki's date whimper from across the room. "Who knows, they could be planning anything." Iida says fron the same direction. "I'm just so worried about Amari. She's not here... where did they take her?" Mina says, rattling the cell as well. I feel a sting in my chest, and look off into the distance.
"I'm not sure, but I hope she's okay."
