(3rd POV)

High above the clouds, a great Air Manta soared above. Riding upon this great Danger beast, the members of Night Raid were hanging on with whatever they could bring to move to their new hideout. Until Night Raid wasn't the most serious matter in the Empire, they would need to lay low in the mountains.

Tatsumi: Woohoo!!! This is awesome!!!

Chelsea: *laughs* You're so innocent, Tatsumi, it's hard to believe you're an assassin. It's almost hilarious!

Leone: Whoo! this is way better than walking!!

Akame: Yeah.

Sheele: Mine? Are you and Lubbock okay?

Mine: This isn't fun at all!

She held onto Sheele for comfort, simultaneously kicking Lubbock away before he could grab Sheele, while a barely visible dot began to edge closer to them in the sky. Since they were almost 700 km away from the Empire, it seemed now was as good a time as any to finish what Y/n had come to do.

(Y/n POV)

I had been tailing them for what seemed like almost hours. None of them had noticed me, which was surprising considering how loud the engines are on this prototype. I grabbed my Luger and began to ascend higher until I was just above the members. If I were to pull this off, I had to pick off at least one as soon as I dropped down. I cut the engines and slowly descended into a downward spiral, aiming my gun to the left as I did so. As I got faster and faster, I activated my Teigu, Spectator, and the world seemed to slow down upon looking through it. Seeing seconds into the future had its perks, such as watching how to kill a Night Raid leader while falling 40 stories in the air.

I passed by the front of the Danger beast so fast, I couldn't have been seen any more than a fly in a forest as I blasted a round into Najenda's head. I re-activated my engines and flew under the beast, readying my weapons to decimate the rest. But as I flew behind it to waste them all, a large, white stave hit me square in the mask and sent me moving backwards. I looked up and started to catch up with them when I noticed that their leader remained unscathed. Her face had no bullets in her brains and looked as determined as ever, pointing her metal arm right at me as the pink-haired girl started firing at me. I ducked and dodged her attacks, though every one of them managed to graze me when I attempted to get closer.

Najenda: I must admit, I thought you were some sort of myth. The great assassin of the Prime Minister, Dr. Y/n Kroenen!

Y/n: A pleasure to make your acquaintance! Give my regards to Dr. Stylish!!

I flew ahead of them and turned on the gadget on my right arm. I aimed it at them and began torching them with flames, however Najenda's Susanoo was already acting as a shield, fanning the flames away using his weapon. I pulled out my Luger and started firing simultaneously with my flamethrower, slowly inching closer to them as my wrist blades came out. I then flew over them and proceeded to strike at their most vulnerable target, the redhead. As my blade came down onto her, she disappeared in a flash and I swiped at air. I turned to attack another one when something with blonde fur grabbed my face and raised me up.

???: Take this!!

A sickening crunch seemed to go off behind me before I got thrown off. I started up the engines again but they seemed to rattle and shake as I tried to catch up to them. I looked behind me and saw smoke and fire billowing behind me, So I quickly sped up until I was in front of their beast again. Before I could set fire to their beast, though, my jet pack exploded and burned through my body. My legs got ripped from my torso and fell into the brush while the rest of my body was propelled over the Manta. I grabbed its tail and tried to hang on while a girl in a pink dress tried to push me off. I began to climb as she kept poking me, breaking bits of my mask with every jab until my eyes were visible.

???: Say goodnight!

She leveled her Teigu right at my eye and fired, taking out one of my eyes and going right through my head. My grip loosened and I felt my body falling and with only one working eye, I couldn't see much, so it was all I could do until everything went dark.

(3rd POV)

Tatsumi: Should we go down and look for him?

Najenda: No need. Even if he managed to survive that, he won't be able to get far.

Mine: Plus, he's missing an eye, so he won't be back for a while.

One Day Later

That part was true. Many hours after the battle, he awoke to the shine of the rising sun as he hung in the thin branches of a tree. His motor skills and cognitive thinking were still partially active, so he whipped out one of his wrist blades and cut the closest branch he could find. Within minutes, he fell from the canopy and dropped to the ground. His jetpack was still clinging onto him so he unlatched its straps and wriggled free. Without his lower half he had no choice but to crawl the rest of the way until someone or something would find him. Every so often, some small danger beast would try and eat him, but would immediately run off due to the lack of blood and nutrition within a body filled with leaking sand.

Y/n: This will be a long walk.

Several Hours Later

It was night by the time Kroenen found shelter. With no sign of any humans or anything that could think beyond eating, he thought that crawling higher up in the mountains would make a difference. Perhaps there would be a large predatory bird that he could harness for travel, or a group of travelers with some form of transport. What he found instead was a quiet house in the clearing, a faint light flickering inside.
