(Y/n POV)

I removed the bags from the soldiers as they glared from the light. In truth, they were not soldiers, more like death-row criminals that I had put in old uniforms. Since I already knew where Night Raid's base was, I had decided to keep the secret to myself to lessen the chance of embarrassment should I fail. I'd taken along with me an array of criminals to a secluded part of the forest that was close to the location the beacon was, ensuring that I wasn't followed before speaking to them.

Criminal: What is this? Where are we?

Kroenen: Guten Tag, meine Herren. I have come bearing good tidings, a Vorschlag, if you will. I need Du to act as my Hunde. Du will go through the forest and lure out Night Raid. If Du survive, I will happily give Du Vergütung.

Criminal: What's stopping us from killing you?

Kroenen: Because ... walks over and stabs the man several times before he drops dead Du are in no position to make demands, Du Abschaum. Now put on diese gas masks.

Criminal: Wh-What?

Kroenen: Put auf. Diese gas masks.

Criminal: "Put off"? What is he saying?

Criminal(2): Are you even speaking eng-?

Kroenen: fires gun into the air Put on das gas masks or I'll kill Du myself!

They complied immediately and started arming themselves to go into the forest. I watched from afar as they went in, each one armed with a single gun or a knife. The gas masks were just in case they had some form of chemical weapon, as well as keeping their identities as inconspicuous as mine. I could hear several shots in the forest and screams before one of the masks actually seemed to have been flung from the underbrush and landed at my feet. As I picked it up, I noticed that the head was still inside it. I sighed and tossed it aside before walking back to the cart. I sat down on a box and pulled out an old record player. I then lay back and let the disc spin on the player as I waited for Night Raid to come.

(Akame POV)

I decapitated the last masked guard, his corpse slowly stumbling to the ground. Leading that man on a wild goose chase into the middle of nowhere was a perfect idea, as expected of our boss. As I prepared to run back, I heard something playing in the distance. The sound seemed to grow louder as I walked to the clearing ahead, until I found a small cart. It looked big enough to carry almost all of those Imperial soldiers that I left in the forest. Sitting in the middle of it though, with his back turned, was a man, wearing a hat over his head and a dark leather coat. His head seemed to sway as the music played, meaning he wasn't paying attention to me. While it seemed risky, I crept slowly towards him, my blade ready to chop his head off. As I raised my blade, he perked his head up and started talking.

???: Guten Tag, junge Frau.

Akame: How did you know I was here?

???: Ihre friend gave me a mortal wound that ripped out mein machinery. It was not hard to track Du here. I had hoped it would come down to diese. Du may call me Doctor Rupert Kroenen.

Akame: I heard about you.

Kroenen: I should expect so. Du were one of us before Du joined Night Raid. But enough talk, let's get down to Geschäft.

He suddenly jumped up high with incredible ease and started firing at me. I blocked his shots with my sword and came towards him, cutting off his hand along with his gun. He landed back onto the ground, clutching his arm as I walked towards him. I raised my blade but before I could attack, something small and metallic grabbed my neck and pulled me down. I tried removing the metal thing but Kroenen suddenly got up and put his shoe over my wrist, grabbing my blade with his gloved hand. He bent down with his severed arm and attached the metallic thing onto his arm, which was an engraved, mechanical hand. He grabbed Murasame from my hand and got up to examine it, my hand still held down with his shoe.
