Happy. That was how Noah felt. It seemed so long that he almost forgot what it was like. The feeling of almost pure bliss that could be confused with getting on a high. He looked at the boy beside him whose blue eyes sparkled as he spoke continuously, without a care in the world. And all Noah could do was listen to the boy and he felt content.

Noah and Josh had a similar timetable, so that was why they found themselves in the math period. Unlike the usual concentration mode Noah goes into, it seemed impossible to do it with the blonde boy sitting next to him. He wanted to listen to him, if only for a bit. Sometimes, the things he said were way too far fetched for Noah to believe but all in all- Noah liked Josh's talk.

And that was why when the math teacher repeatedly called onto Noah to pay attention, he couldn't quite listen to the teacher. It was when Josh finally shook him with a concerned expression on his face, that Noah moved from his trance.

Noah was a brilliant student, one of the best, infact. The math teacher just shook his head and went back to teaching, clearly disappointed at Noah's lack of attention in his class.

Noah felt guilty. But, Josh felt guiltier. He kept apologising profusely again and again as Noah said it was alright. Josh, for the rest of the period, stayed silent. And Noah didn't know what was better- Josh not talking or finally being able to pay attention.

Slowly the class ended and the children departed. But this time, Josh followed Noah, with his constant chatter and occasional apology for the math class. It became an unsaid agreement- both liked each other's company very much and tagging along each other was preferable.

They had lunch and as most school's food was, it wasn't that great of a deal. But, Josh seemed to have brought lunch which Noah had to admit, smelled pretty good. Afterall, it was pasta!

Instead of getting lunch, they shared the pasta that Josh had brought with him, talking all the while. It was obvious that so many people didn't like the new seating arrangements because they kept glaring at Josh. They were upset that Noah was taken away from their table. But neither Noah nor Josh were bothered.

And that was how the rest of the day went by, with the golden eyed boy and the blue eyed boy practically inseparable. There was once when Josh was struggling with his History test and Noah helped him silently, without anyone knowing. Then there was the giggling after they were done with class, very pleased with their work.

Again, the day ended with constant chatter of Josh, which Noah hadn't minded one bit in joining in.

But soon all the classes were up and the students whose parents had signed up for daycare had to stay back until after hours. Noah wasn't signed up for it, due to reasons more than one.

"You aren't in daycare?"

"No. You?"

"Me neither." Replied Josh. And then he remembered the promise he made to Mrs Heathers about helping Josh and he wondered if he could do that after school but he was supposed to go home with Jacob's mom today.

And when he voiced his concerns to Josh, the blue eyed boy went into a deep thought.

"How about I take you home?"

And Noah almost laughed at him. Josh was a lot of things, some of them being stubborn and absolute childishness.

But Josh wouldn't budge. Not one bit. He kept on insisting and when Noah reluctantly agreed, they were on the way to Mrs Heathers' office- the only one who could probably understand and help them.

On the way to her office, they passed a lot of things that caught Josh's attention, from plants to lockers, from rooms to wallpapers. It felt so different but yet so similar to his old city. He preferred living in this town now. The serenity, the ability to languidly lay on the grass watching the time pass by.
