Schools out

(Captains POV)
"Class dismissed" mrs price Said.

Everyone in the class leapt out of there seats, grabbed there bags and ran. Well almost everyone. I was still drawing...havers, William havers.

"Tom ..." He whined
"What Will?" I replied not taking my eyes of the paper which I was covering up.
"Schools over?" He said
"And?"
He didn't reply. Just grabbed me by the hand and my bag and tugged me out of the room. I kept the drawing facing my chest. Holding it very tightly.

Once we were out of the school building I put my blazer into my bag and we ran down the hill into town.

The town, Wimborne, was a rural town in the middle of Dorset, we've had a few evacuees come into town because of war. A few British planes fly over us but that's because there's an airport near by. Our next door neighbour has taken in a few evacuees by the names of Joseph, Amy and Elizabeth all from Oxford. Joseph the oldest is a strong athletic boy around 16, Amy is and artist we usually share supplies and she's 14, Elizabeth or Eliza was only 3 I had to babysit her a few times. Other Evacuees were at my school but I didn't know them that well.

I'm town we passed the minster and too the local corner shop. William brought a vanilla ice cream and I got a mint one. We went to the park and ate our ice cream. Laughing, Will told me stories about his English class and how mr fox would almost faint everytime mrs adams came into the room. We all knew the we're having an affair. I watched Will laugh, he was so cute I just wanted to kiss him.

Wait no, I'm not... I don't want to Thats not normal. Anyway he wouldn't want to kiss me. No way, he probably had a girlfriend already.

"Tom?" Will said snapping me out of my train of thought.
"Uh... yeah" I replied
"You didn't hear me did you?" He knew me too well. "I said do you want to go to the lake tomorrow."
Fuck yeah I do.
"Yes that would be nice, should I invite anyone?" I questioned
"No! Sorry I mean no it would be fun just the two of us..." he said shyly.
"I agree, what time?"
"1:30? We could bring a picnic?" He said with a smile.
"Definitely. I'll get some supplies." I replied.
"Ok.. I guess I need to go home.." he said a slight sadness in his voice
"Yeah.."

We spilt our ways. I watch him walk away then I go home.

"You had a good day at school?" My mum asked as I walked through the door
"Yeah, it was ok... can I go to the lake tomorrow?" I asked
"With who?" She questioned
"William"
"Oh yeah haver's boy, of course you can, tell him I said hello" my mum and will's mum went way back. That how we met.

I walked upstairs and laid on my bed.

Why can't I be normal? Every boy in my class has a girlfriend or at least a crush... why don't I? It's just never felt right... but will. NO! You can't like him... that's a sin.. right? But what if it's no- not it is and I can't be.. I'm not gay? Am I?

A tear trickled down my face. Why was life so difficult?!
