Spencer watched as his tall, dark haired, dark eyed crush walked by. He looked as inconspicuous as he could as he simultaneously watched Aaron and took out his stuff for his next class. Spencer has had feelings for Aaron for two years now, and couldn't get rid of them. No matter how heard he tried.
"Hey pretty boy." He heard Derek from behind him.
"Hey." Spencer said, starting to walk to his next class, which he had with Derek.
"Still fawning over my friend?" He jokes.
"No." Spencer lied, hoping it would work.
"Spencer, you are a terrible lier." Derek stated. "I know you still are."
"Well it was worth a try." Spencer said as they entered the classroom. "Did you tell anyone else about it?"
"I did not." Derek admits. "You confided in me and asked me not to tell anyone, so I didn't. Not even lover boy himself."
"Thank you." Spencer said. "It means a lot. I know it is hard not to tell your friends about something as big as me not being heterosexual and liking someone as more than a friend, and that person being one of your friends who isn't in our friend group."
"It's not that hard." Derek promised, then class started.
Class was long, as always, but Spencer enjoyed himself, like always. He was intelligent for his age, and he was aware of it. He skipped one grade, and he could have skipped over more, but he wanted to spend time with people close to his age, so he stayed with the people a year older than he was, making him the youngest in the group, and a year younger than Aaron.
Then class ended, and Spencer headed for his last class of the day. He switched out his books and went to history, a class he had with Aaron. He walked into the class and saw a seating chart on the board. The class was getting new seats. Spencer looked for his name. When he found his, he was stunned. He would be sitting in the back, which he was okay with, but the thing that stunned him was the fact that he would be sitting next to Aaron.
He went to sit in his seat and anxiously waited for Aaron to arrive and sit next to him. When he did arrive, Spencer felt like he was going to throw up. He watched as Aaron saw his name placement on the board, then turn to smile at Spencer. Spencer did his practiced smile as Aaron walked over. He hoped it didn't look like a grimace or fake or practiced. Aaron sat down and the class started.
"Now that you have successfully located your seats, we will be able to start a new assignment." Mrs. Smith announced to the class. "You will be working with your table partner and it will be on any unique historical event."
Spencer tried to continue to listen after she said "table partner" and it was difficult for him to do so. Then Aaron turns to Spencer and he nearly faints.
"What do you want to do as our subject?" Aaron asked.
"We could do the molasses flood of 1919, the dancing plague, the great emu war, the beast of gevaudan, the almost assassination of Abraham Lincoln..."
"Slow down." Aaron interrupted. "Let's do that last one you said and go on with it."
"Okay." Spencer stated, saying little as possible as to not go on another nervous ramble again.
