"This is why mom and dad left us! You just can't stop stuffing your face with food, Pig!"
"Well, it's your fault my mom died! If you hadn't been born, we could have been a happy family of three!"
"Shut up! It wasn't my fault!"
As the two exchanged verbal blows, Lucius was exchanging physical blows with those shadows. But it was fruitless for him.
They were non-materialistic, non-physical, his attacks did nothing but stall for time! But those two idiots kept arguing!
Having had enough of those twos antics, Lucius punch in a nearby tree. Although his sudden action didn't affect the shadows, it did catch the attention of Hansel and Gretel.
The explosion made them freeze in their spot. The sound was so loud and clear, their ears had rung.
Both Gretel and Hansel turned their bodies around, searching for the source of the sound. With how loud it was, both of them knew it was close, but which direction did it come from?
Gretel took the sleeves of Hansel's shirt, tugging him in a direction opposite of where she believed the sound originated. But Hansel resisted, "What are you doing?! We don't know where that sound could be! For all I know, you could be dragging me to my death!"
Gretel released her grip, stomping the ground in frustration. "Won't you just shut up, Hansel?! All this arguing is going to send us straight 6 feet under! Either you man up and stop being a coward or I'll leave you here!"
"Who are you calling a coward! If I recalled I was the one who stood up for you when-When-When the witch wanted to use you! I stood up for all your life! Even when I detested you! Even when the new mistress wanted to throw you to another family!"
"Don't try and manipulate the past! Just because I was young and unaware then, doesn't mean that I still am!"
"I-Ah! Gretel, move!"
Hansel quickly took back Gretel's hand, pulling her away as fast as possible. Stumbling into her brother's fat body, Gretel pushed away out of reflex. She looked up at him, eyebrows knitted down in confusion and annoyance, "What is it! You don't have to pull me so hard!"
"RUN!!" Without giving Gretel any more heed, Hansel began to sprint the opposite way. But not even a minute later, Hansel ran back to Gretel, the ends of his skirt a little more singed than before.
"Come on! We're gonna get killed if we stay here any longer!" He took his sister's hand, dragging her with him as he ran again.
"What?! What's happening, Hansel! You better explain!" Although Gretel was angry and lost, the time she spent in the witch's bread house gave her some experience of when there's danger. She followed her big brother, just falling behind a few steps to watch their backs.
Lucius sighed in relief, the spark of fire on the tips of his finger was snubbed out by him as he watched the two children run away.
Now...to deal with these shadow creatures!
With thousands of world experiences, Lucius had naturally come across similar creatures in one of those worlds. A mysterious mass made up of shadows and hatred, seemingly unbeatable for the fact it was impossible to pierce through their bodies because they simply...were non-materialistic; they were unburnable, and any form of liquid was ineffective towards them.
Completely unbeatable...but...Lucius learned very quickly that everything had a weakness.
The first time he came across a beast similar to the ones in front of him right now was when he had a hero client, who had unfortunately failed to live to the prophecy. And it was just that these 'shadow' creatures were what caused his downfall.
