Your dinner with your friends had gone from good to terrible in several minutes. A drunken man wouldn't leave any of you alone. The friends who had traveled quite far to get to the restaurant in New Orleans left early and one by one everyone left.
The man's friends had pulled him away long before you'd left. But as you walked home you couldn't help but feel a prickle on your skin, nerves skipping up anxiety in your chest until you were walking faster and faster. You turned a corner and found that the steps hurried. When you glanced back you could see the shadow of whoever was following you, looming against the wall beside you. Turning back around, you collided with Lucien.
"Do mind your manners! Honestly, Klaus needs to pick his friends better." Lucien said quickly. He frowned when you didn't really acknowledge him but glanced back. As if some greater predator was after you. The man rounded the corner, the same one from the bar. "You have a fan."
"That isn't funny." You snapped. It was only now that you realised Lucien had a grip on your arm and when you looked at him, the other hand held a glass of whisky.
"Hey friend! You got my girl!" The man slurred. Lucien looked at the man with a look of such disdain and displeasure that the man physically shrank back.
"You belong to that?" He asked casually.
"Absolutely not. Now let me go so I can get out of here!" You insisted.
"Yeah. Let her go!" The man shouted, though he had now swaggered back a few steps and was watching Lucien wearily. He swayed rather helplessly and Lucien began to get an odd look on his face
"It's so sweet. He looks just like a little entrée." Lucien said loudly enough for the man to hear you. Lucien dropped your arm and set himself upon the man in seconds. It took you just a moment to collect your thoughts long enough for it to occur to you to run. You left the man shrieking in the alleyway with Lucien feeding on him. You ran until you reached your apartment and called Rebekah as soon as you locked all the doors. If you hadn't been in such a state, you might have noticed Lucien lurking outside your window.
