Chapter one

Maria's pov
"Get up you worthless children today is adoption!," said Mis. Carol

We all got up "Hey Mari," I turned around to see who it was it was Kaya my best friend since I got in this living nightmare "Hey Kaya," "Are you ready for today?," she said with a smile "No," I said plainly she frowned "Why not?", she asked.

She might be my best friend but sometimes can be totally clueless for some reason Carol targets me and hits me and every adoption day im not allowed to come out of my room and if I do I get beat. "Kaya you know what Carol does if I get out of this room she'll beat me", Kaya looked down at the floor "I have a plan though", a smile formed on my face "What's the plan?", I asked "Ok when they come I will sneak the keys from Carol, come unlock the door and try to stay away from Carol", she said "Well hello young ladies", we turned around it was Carol "Hello Carol can we help you?", Kaya asked "Well I came to get you go downstairs with the other girls Kaya," Carol said Kaya did as she was told. Carol turned to face me "You know you are never going to get adopted your worthless", she said "Oh Carol you say that every time it's get old", I said sarcastically she didn't respond she just shut the door and locked it.

Ok I have least 15 minutes until it starts I walked over to a small dresser and picked out an outfit I picked out a pair of black leggings and a shirt that says "I like my boys how I like my tea hot and British", I just let my hair down and put on my black combat boots I looked in the mirror I have brown curly hair that goes past my shoulders brown eyes you can see a bruise on my face from the last time I got hit.

The door swung open I saw Kaya

With a smile on her face "there are a lot of people here you ready?", "yep lets go", we made our way down the stairs and were about to turn down the hall. But then "MARIA HOW DID YOU GET PUT COME OVER HERE YOU WORTHLESS CHILD NO WONDER YOU NEVER ARE GOING TO GET ADOPTED!", oh no Carol "Run", Kaya whispered.

So I did, I ran down hall then I turned the corner and continued to run until Bam! I smacked into a person and fell "Oh my im so sorry here let me help you", said a British accent I looked up he held out his hand I took it "Thank you sir my name is Maria", I said with a smile "Well hello my name is Andrew, Andrew Lincoln", "MARIA!", I herd Carol yell I grabbed Andrew's wrist and pulled him into the kitchen "What's going on Maria?", Andrew asked "Well umm ok I was sent here when I was ten, and ever since then Carol has never let me out of my room on adoption day and if I did she would beat me like on Monday she forgot to lock the door and I got out and she found me and beat me so I escape today and she caught me again so I ran and bumped into you and know here we are", I told Andrew.

He looked discussed "She did that to you?", he asked I nodded my head "Why don't you tell me about your self Maria?", he asked "I am 14 I love to sing and do sports like basketball and I love my penny borad and my favorite color is turquoise", I said I looked at the time 8:00 wow we have been talking for an hour "Well it looks like it's time for me to go bye Maria", Andrew said as he stood up "Bye Andrew it was nice meeting you", he smiled "You to" he said and walked out I walked out and tried to sneak up to the room "Thought you could get away now did you Maria?" I turned around it was Carol.
