Dead!

   I should have been more careful

  "Sonic? Sonic?! Where are you? We need help, fast. Eggman bots are taking over Sunset city!" The blue one listened to the familiar voice of the yellow-orange Fox come through the speaker of his communicator. He wasn't too far from city, just around the border of Green Hills, it would take less then a few minutes to get there.

"Don't you worry, Tails. I'm on my way." Sonic told him as he started to run towards the city in distress. "Woah, what happened to green hill? Pollution's getting out of control, this place's looking a lot more like Sand Hill now!" The blue joked to himself, trying to stay positive, but he had a nagging feeling that something was going to happen.

No, stop it, Sonic. Pull yourself together. Everything's fine, remember, you're friends have got your back, they won't let you down. Besides, nothing can get me, I'm the world's fastest thing alive!" Filled the the usual confidence, the blur rushed even quicker to the destination. But still, he couldn't shake of that feeling that something bad was gonna happen...

  "Everybody get back!" The young cub yelled at the others behind him, who seemed even more terrified then he was. It's going to be ok. Sonic will come. He always comes. And as if just to prove Tails right, a blue blur started hopping from one robot to the other, destroying them as it went.
The said blur then came to a stop to reveal none other then Sonic himself.

"Is everyone ok?" He asked, worried that some civilians might be injured.
"Everyone's safe and accounted for. Cutting it kinda close though, aren't we pal? Your not tiring out, are you?" The Fox winked, teasing his friend a bit, who just smirked back.

"Me? Naw! Cutting it close is just how I role, just like how I hang on the edge of tomorrow." Sonic then turned to face Dr. Eggman, the one behind the attack, the one whom had only just submerged from the dark shadows he had been hiding in.

"Hurting innocent Möbians, doc? That's a new low. You know I've got a zero tolerance rate for bullies." Sonic taunted, shaking his head and tutting. But suddenly he turned his head round, glaring at his arch nemesis in the eye. "But in all seriousness, I warned you about shedding innocent blood. You're finished, Eggbreath!" Sonic then leaped at the mastermind, only to then be hit across the face with brute force, causing him to fall on his back in the ground, breaking the floor tiles.

"No, this is your finish, my furry friend." Eggman whispered menacingly, sneering at his enemy as he struggled to get up.
Woah. That stung a bit. What in the name of chaos was that? It came from nowhere. Sonic then pulled himself from the floor, to see his attacker. "Shadow? You? You're with Egghead here? Or here for a rematch? If so, now's sorta a bad ti..."

"silence, fool!" Shadow then pointed behinds Sonic, and he turned around to see three more figures emerge from the shadows.

"Metal? Zavok? Chaos?" What's going on?" Another one then appeared, one that Sonic didn't recognize, so he smirked. "Hmm. Guess I'll have to defeat you all!"

He then started running at the new villain, who also smirked under his mask that he was wearing. Let's see here. His right leg seems a lot weaker, he's limping on it a bit, probably from the impact earlier. But that must mean that it should be quite easy too.. he then quickly dodged Sonic's attack, and the turned around and grabbed onto one of his quills on the right side of his head. Surprised, there was nothing Sonic could do as his face has smashed against the floor yet again, and Tails heard his cries of pain.

"Sonic!" He shouted, dashing to his side and kneeling besides his friend. "Are you ok?" Sonic lifted his head, and Tails could see that his nose and mouth had trails of blood coming from them, as well as lots of other cuts and bruises. "Tails, get back!" He said, not turning his head, but looking Tails in the eye.
The fox just stood there, frozen in the moment.

"Let's get this over and done with then!" Sonic then smirked again picking himself of the floor, only to find himself being lifted of the floor, completely unable to move.

"Gladly!" The masked figure stated, holding the Hedgehog in some sort of telekinesis hold, before throwing him against a wall. And as he fell to the floor, he tried to get up immediately, but found that he couldn't.

I think... my legs are broken... I can't move them... it just really hurts... Sonic tried to stay conscious, but he knew that was impossible, and he could hear Tails shouting at him.
As his vision faded to black, he saw the masked one and Eggman walking over to him.

  "Quickly! They're over here!" A security guard shouted, hearing the commotion

. But as they ran into the scene, all four stopped in there tracks.

"No!" They heard Tails whisper holding his hands up to his mouth, as all they was met with was piles of rubble, with bits of blue fur sticking up from them, and the occasional red stain, "No no no! Sonic? Sonic?!"
"Hey kid. It's ok now. Whatever happened has gone now," One of the guards tried to comfort, but the cub shook his head.
"No, you don't understand! Sonic!" Tails teared up. "My friend- my best friend- is gone...!"

Two of the Möbians looked at each over, before one bent down besides him,
"You're Tails right? Tell me, what happened here?"

"Me and Sonic was visiting the area... he wanted to come see Green Hills, and I wanted to.." he started, "But I was ambushed.. Sonic came to save us, but.. they took him,"

The three guards stepped back.
"Was he.. still alive?" The other asked, her heart stopping as he shook his head.
"No. They killed him. That monster killed my brother!"

They was when he got up, running as fast as he could. He wasn't sure where he was going, he just had to get away from the town. He eventually stopped on a hill overlooking the town he had just come out of, and he rested again a lone smallish willow tree.

It can't be true. It just can't be.

"Hey.." the guard called after him, but another put a hand in her shoulder.
"Let him go," he nodded, before turning to another, "Issue a red alert, this is an emergency,"
