Phantom

Ow. What happened? Tails? Sonic expected to open his eyes to find his buddy sat there in worry, and he's tell him he's ok. Just like usual.

But when he opened his eyes, he saw Eggman's gleaming face, and he leapt backwards.
"Ow, ow!" He fell to the floor, "What's going on? Where am I?"

"Haha! Rodent! You're finally awake! I really thought Infinite had knocked you out for good there," Eggman laughed, and Sonic shook his head in confusion.

"What are you going on about now Eggbreath? Infinite? Where's Tails? And this.. place.." he looked around, before realizing that it was a cell.

"Heh! Thought you could get me?" He started to stand up, "It's going to take a little more then a cage to stop m- AGGH!" He fell back to the floor after attempting to stand, both legs had given way.

He waited a bit before trying again, spin-dashing at the door, but the one from earlier just tutted, grabbing his neck.
"My my you certainly are full of spirit, aren't you?" He laughed, his one uncovered eye meeting Sonic's two, "We'll be sure to kill that,"

The creature threw him against the wall, pleased to hear his pained whimpers.
The blue gave Eggman a look of steal as Shadow and Chaos held an arm each, the doctor smirking.

"Chain him," he instructed as he left, Zavok advancing towards him with some heavy looking cuffs.
"Huh. You think this scares me? I've been chained before." Sonic warned, laughing. But as Zavok walked closer, he did feel a little nervous.

Sure, he had been chained once before. By the G.U.N. When Shadow framed him. They'd caught him of guard and put him in handcuffs. He'd hated every second of it.

Snap. He heard one snap around his wrist tightly, and he fought Zavok with the other, still confident that he'd get away.
But he felt someone grasp it tightly, looking to find claws sticking out of a leather glove.
"Now," the masked one laughed, digging them in deeper, drawing blood. "Are we going to be good, or am I going to have to break your arm as well?" He glared until Zavok secured the other one, and Möbian chuckled, "good boy,"

They continued to laugh at him as Eggman tightened a collar around his neck, chaining him to the ground.
"Try to escape that, rat!" He sneered

It's ok, it's cool. Sonic looked at his chained wrists, I can still escape. He continued to watch as they left, before trying to stand up. Which, when he did, fell to the floor, crying out. He tried a few more times, before trying to break his bonds, trying to pull the tight collar off his neck.
"I-I can't do this." He slowly realized. "I can't break free this time."

"It's fine. I'm sure my friends will come for me,"

Infinite had been watching his struggle through security monitors for several hours.
He took a sip of his water, before turning to his minions.

"Ok. I've about grown tired of this," he sighed, "I think it's about time to move onto stage two," he glared, walking towards the door.

News quickly spread about Sonic's passing. Eggman had seized his chance and laid war on the entire planet, as Knuckles, Amy, Vector, and many more came to Tails' aid.

Together, they built the resistance, fighting for their world back.
But, without their dear friend, they quickly lost hope.

It was a chilly April day, rain falling from the sky as a group dressed in black made their way to the tattered cathedral.

It was a small funeral, as anything too big would attract the enemies attention.

But yet, with even how small the party was, Tails stayed behind after the tribute.

He didn't feel like being around others anymore.

"Come on, we're going to miss our flight!" Tails ran ahead, before stopping.
"You are ok, right? It's not like you to be lagging behind,"

"Oh yeah, I'm fine bro." Sonic insisted, "Just a stomach bug," he shook of that feeling he had in the back of his mind.
"I dunno Tails, maybe I should sit this one out,"

"Oh come on, you'll be fine once we get in the plane!" The cub encouraged, concerned with his behavior. Generally the hedgehog was dragging him to the plane. He always loved going back to Green Hills. He looked at him closely, "You are ok, right?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. I'll feel better once we're on the plane,"

"But he didn't feel better." The cub whispered to himself "He said and acted like he was, but I understand now that it was that sixth sense off his, warning him to stay at home. I should have just listened."

"And now he's gone. It's too late," the cub sat there alone in the church hall, tearing up yet again.

"Hey, I brought you.. some.. cake.." Amy had walked up in find Tails crying again, and rushed over.
"Oh no, it's ok, I'm here now, what's wrong?" That's a stupid question really, I know the answer.

"Sonic!" He wept, "I-I-I should have just listened, Amy! I should have just let him stay behind! That way, he'd still be here!"

"It wasn't your fault. Eggman knew what he was doing. Please, don't blame yourself," she comforted, but Tails kept picking at the cake. It was chocolate, with deep fluffy frosting, with raspberries and blackberries on top. One of Sonic's favorites.

Everything was to Sonic's liking. The food, the colors, even the music that played was his favorite.

"I'm going back to the Head Quarters," he couldn't stand being around something that reminded him so much of his brother.

Silver had been stood at the door, listening to their conversation.
