Prologue

ONCE UPON A TIME...

A girl with bronze skin and curly dark brown hair with the birthname of Anissa Ross felt helpless. Her mother, Jane, was dying from the Spanish Influenza, and the only thing the family could do was wait, waiting for a cure or waiting for the grim reaper to appear in her room to take her away to where the lifeless went.

Anissa Ross wanted to perish alongside her mother. She was her fortress, her long-time friend, and someone who didn't harm a fly. She did not understand why people like her mother had to endure the cruelest things instead of people like her grandparents, Nelson and Rebecca, who were callous towards her and her mother ever since she was little.

While weeping and praying for a cure, Anissa encountered a man. A man who promised to cure Jane Ross under one condition, she couldn't hear that condition over her sudden excitement.

Everything went according to his plan.

Jane Ross was safe after waiting for weeks for the well-talked vaccine. However, in the following dawn, she died of a blood clot on her lung.

With every fairy tale, there's always a moral. In this one, the moral is do not accept deals that are good to be true without paying for it.

Anissa did not understand why she was crying blood, and she did not understand the pain was seeping through her skull. But one thing for sure was that he was cursing her, cursing her to be a deathless beauty until the earth burns.

Before she embraced the darkness like an old friend, the man uttered:

"I am no one to interrupt where death is supposed to be...."

Years passed, and while the world was singing and celebrating the ending of a war, Anissa regained consciousness in an unknown forest. Her heart started pounding with fear since she didn't know where she was or what happened exactly.

Her story continued when she would be taken care of by a girl with olive skin and jet-black hair named Jacqueline West. After this, she will have her first love, and they will take him away from her. After this, she will be under a bat man's wing, and after this, she would have to endure her past to save a girl who needed help and guidance.

Despite the fact, the two of them have a common enemy now.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: hello hello! I did a new backstory for this lovely character! Short and a little bit lazy but it's here! After not publishing for... almost two years now? So, if you have read the first prologue I did, please delete that from your mind. Anyway, the concept is still the same, so please be patient, since i'm still editing the first and second chapter.
