New York

March 21 12:22am

I rushed at the door to see who was incessantly

pounding on the doorbell. Good thing peepholes always work if you are trying to hide yourself from somebody. Relief washed over me when I saw him standing at the other side of the door.

I pressed the button on the intercom next to the door as I looked around my suite. It was a mess. So I told him to stay put to offload some things. He nodded and smiled through his breath, obviously glad to see me minutes later since it was obvious he's a little bit nervous too. Ah, relationship like this should last.

After getting rid of all the excess stuff, I opened the door and welcomed him in. Warmth swelled in my heart as soon as he pulled me close for an eternity hug. It was so good to be near him. He always has that good scent. I loved everything about us. I loved him.

I managed to break out from spell that encompassed me as soon as he entered my suite. I admired at how he's progressed all these years. He was wearing a tuxedo and I managed to give myself the most beautiful dress I could find at the store earlier.

He gave me a quick kiss on my right cheek before leading me out of the suite. Time flew fast and I found myself breathless with the grandiosity of a palace-like place standing in front of us. I almost believe in eternity. We had our reservation here. At least he had time to confirm the reservation for us. It wasn't much a duty but I just learned how to be thankful for every little thing he does for me. He wasn't a fan of chivalry.

I was beginning to think negatively again. I willed myself to change the things I was thinking. Tonight was supposed to be an eventful celebration. I admired the place. It looked like a historical site where plenty of things happened that led changes to man's history. Honestly, I could describe it in one hundred words more but I felt guilty of being at this place. The place looked like an overstatement of what we had all these years.

Soft music played on as we approached the receiving area. Everything looked even more expensive.

He pulled a seat and gestured to me to sit down.

"What do you think about this place?" he smiled and took my hand to kiss it.

"I'm dazzled. Everything looks perfect. I wonder why we haven't been here before." I

said. The butler poured us some wine. I raised my glass,

"Happy sixth..." he repeated my words and I almost believed everything was

perfect. His phone rang and he gave that look asking if he could take the call.

I dismissed him with a smile trying so hard to forge the sadness I was feeling.

You'd say I was overreacting. Yes, he would be just a few meters away but that

distance actually meant something else to me. Was not I clear when I asked him

tonight should only be our night? I looked around the place while he was gone.

I willed myself not to cry in front of the other quests. I was able to let go

of the twisting knots of tears in me after I stabbed my steak with a fork.

Five minutes passed...

This just made me think who made all the efforts

to be sitting here tonight. I did. He never did. It felt like I was the one
