Its eight something in the morning. The alarm goes off and I click it off and go back to sleep. Five more minutes pass, the alarm goes off again and I cut it off and lay there, now knowing I have to get up. I get out of bed to use the restroom and brush my teeth. I look into the mirror, "We have a lot today, and it's her birthday so let's do this."
Let me back yall up on some things. I'm Alyssa, I have two children Ayla and Alaia. Today is Alaia's 8th birthday and I planned it all from the decorations to food. Its in our big home. I can afford it with my multiple sources of incomes. I own a bakery and a restaurant...back onto the story.
I walk down the hall to my youngest daughter room, Alaia. I open the door and find Alaia watching tv.
"Hey, Good morning, Alaia," I say. "Morning mommy," she says and runs up to hug me. "Happy Birthday," I kiss her forehead and pick her up and start walking down the hallway and downstairs to the kitchen.
"Thank you mommy"
"Your welcome, I cant believe your 8 now."
"Yeah its exciting,"
I put her down and I get my ingredients out. "Can you get the eggs out?" I ask her as I prepare my base for the pancakes.
She gets the eggs out and cracks them for me. "What flavor do you want"
"Vanilla and chocolate please" She gets the pan out.
"How about a swirl and chocolate syrup and whipped cream on top?" I ask as I mix my base in.
"Oh yes" she squeals
I laugh with her in agreement as I pour the batter in and turn the stove on.
"Good morning, Happy Birthday Alaia" Ayla yawns and walks in
"Thank you" She hugs her sister.
"Morning Ayla, can you make coffee?" I ask her flipping the pancakes
"Yea", she fixes the coffee and turns it on, "What ya making?"
"Special pancakes for Alaia"
"Oh I guess I'll eat them if you make me some"
"Yea and fry some bacon"
"Anything else cause this ain't IHOP"
"I'll tip you if you make her a milkshake"
"Fine" she gets the ingredients out and makes the milkshake.
"See Alaia, that's how you get her to do stuff. All teenagers want now is money. But they have a horrible attitude, exhibit A"
"I get my attitude from you, I'm mini you,"
"Well I-...Well you ain't wrong."
"Exactly."
"Alaia don't be like Ayla, be better than her and be better than me also...damn Ayla you act just like me."
"See , Alaia be better than me" She hands her milkshake.
"Of course"she drinks the milkshake, "Mmmm, it's bussin"
"Who taught you that word" I ask
"Ayla"
"What?"
"Nun don't worry about it."
We ate breakfast after and my bestfriend and her daughter came over, to help me set up.
Georgie walks in and hugs me "Hey Lay"
"Hey Georgie" I hug her and hug her daughter "Hey Kayla"
"Hey Auntie Lay"
"Alaia is upstairs in her room"
"Ok" she squeals and rushes upstairs.
"I know she's excited" Georgie says
"Yea, the party is gonna be epic and fun" We walk to the kitchen.
"Right, so do I have to physically set anything up or just tell people where to put it?"
"Um the space walk, tables, and chairs on its way and the decorater is too. I'm too lazy and have other stuff to do to decorate but, I have some things in one of the rooms to go outside. Like a throne chair, a big number 8 and a backdrop"
"Ahh you got that"
"Georgie don't play with me"
"I was kidding, but um what else coming in"
"Well my delivery drivers are supposed to drop the food off by 11 and I'm going to get the cake and treats after I take my shower maybe at 10 there's no rush to get it and the party starts at 12 or anytime after 12 because that's no rush either. Kayla is keeping her company till other friends and family shows up so it's not a problem."
"Yea their inseparable, probably gotta have a sleepover because she cried on the way home last time"
"That's not a problem and you don't have to go home either, your guest room is still there for you , it's not like it got legs and could just walk"
"Yea imma stay and Josh coming later"
"No biggie, but let's get this out the way right quick"
We put the props outside and talked for a bit. Then I went upstairs to Ayla.
"Ayla get ready and then help your sister get ready please, I got some more stuff to do aft-"
She cuts me off "Mom just go I can handle me and her"
"Alright then"
The doorbell rings and I yell "Georgie can you get that"
I then walk off to my room and check my phone..
Derek:
Hey Alyssa, I don't know if I'm gonna make it in today, my flight got cancelled.
Me:
Aww Alaia is gonna be sad but I'll break the news to the girls shortly.
I cut my phone off and undress and get into the shower. I wash myself and wash my hair. I step out and dry myself and my hair. I flat iron my hair and curl it. I step out into my room headed for my closet to put some clothes on and hear him.
"This is a nice welcome home present" Derek says while he sits on my bed smirking.
"Derek-"
