Chapter Twenty Four: Destined
Manhattan, New York
March 16th
Beyoncé G. Knowles:I felt absolutely nothing but contentment about Giovanni's death. He was finally out of me and Onika's way. I could love her in peace with one less problem. Well, after all of this blew over.
For the past two weeks, the police had been sniffing around in Onika's business because apparently she's a suspect as well. Seeing to it that she was the last known person to have seen him, they were on her case trying to figure out any and everything they could.
They'd found out about the divorce, saying it was suspicious that she hadn't revealed the information to them. Typical pigs. If they found anything to stick, I'm sure they'd pin it on her. But that was nearly impossible. From what I knew, she'd went straight to the university after their encounter and that's where she was told that he was murdered. The time frame didn't match up, and there was no way they could make it. They were scrambling, because whoever had actually murdered him, was so damn careful and cautious, there wasn't even DNA to match anybody but Giovanni in his car.
It'd be a cold case in no time.
But because it wasn't, I wasn't allowed to see her. It'd been two entire weeks, fourteen entire days. I couldn't lie, the distance made me miss her like crazy. Class wasn't enough for me. I needed her one on one, where I could feel her emotions oozing from her pores.
Instead, I was stuck with Emilio and Megan, more in love than ever. I couldn't understand it for the life of me, but I guess their world was perfect. Even in a perfect world though, I don't think I'd ever be able to go back.
"Beyoncé you want something?"
I lifted my head to look at him. "What?"
"Adi's going to Chipotle. You want something?"
Her name put me in a wild state, and starting to warm my body up.
I shook my head. "I'm good."
"She's going to bring you something back anyway so you might as well tell me what you want," He wrapped his arm around Megan's waist when she sat in his lap.
"Tell her to surprise me," I said because I knew it would make her smile.
When Aditi came, she handed everything to Emilio and he started to divide everything. I wasn't really too worried about that though, I was worried about the gaze Aditi had me under. I knew she wanted to talk. I wanted to talk to her too, but I didn't want to tell her something and ruin us, or ruin the way she looked at me.
She held her hand out for me. I slipped my feet into some slides and grabbed her hand, following her out of the room. We stood in the hall and I leaned up against the wall.
I didn't even know what I wanted to say to her. She already knew about my affair with Onika so I was wondering why so felt like there was something I needed to tell her.
"Have you heard about Mr. Maraj?" I asked.
"It's everywhere, everyone's heard about it."
Truthfully, I think we both knew that the Mr. Maraj talk was just bullshit for what we really wanted to say. I didn't even want to have a deep conversation right now, but with Aditi, that's all that seemed to happen. Emotions seemed to be the only language of this woman. I couldn't get around it or her.
