It's time to see them and stay

Sonic was at Thorndyke Manor with his eyes shut thinking the time he spent at Knothole for fifteen years and all the missions he did.

He had ended Eggman last year with a Super fight.

He's eighteen years old and found out Robotnik survived the fight he and Sally had with him to end him.

Every time I think I'm closer to the heart

He was approaching Sally, whoosh. They turn as he skids to a stop carrying the Deep Power Stone. His slipstream blows their hair back.

"Got it." he said and whipped the Stone out of his backpack, held it up.

Uncle Chuck grinned as he saw the Stone and Sally took it from him.

"Sonic... we have a plan." she said.

Later they were at the Streaking towards the Doomsday Site looming in far.

"Chill here. Sonic. [Sonic skids to a stop. Nicole beeps] You're right above it." Nicole said.

"Huh?" he said.

Sally released her grip on him.

"Supply check. Metal-eating balloon." said and he pulled the last metal-eating balloon out of his backpack and handed it to her. "Check."

"Deep Power Stones." she said so he pulled the both out.

"Check." he said and she took one of them, put it in her pack, handed the balloon back to him. "Okay, now remember, once we connect the stones, we have..." she said and he nodded.

"Thirty seconds. Check." he said and realized what she just said. "Whoa, Sal. What's this "we" stuff?"

Sally leaned close, determined look.

"Because I'm going with you." she said.

"No way, Sal... You-" he started but she put a hand over his mouth.]

"We're in this together, Sonic Hedgehog, however it ends. Check?" she said and released her hand.

"Check." he said paused. "Hold on! We're going down." he said, grabbed her and super-spun into the ground.

Beneath them the Doomsday Tunnel was dark with metal ribbed sides. His super-spin approaching, then they spun through the tunnel's metal roof and dropped to floor while Sally switched on a flashlight and played it on the sides.

"Okay, now, we-" she started when she was broke off. "Ohmygosh! A Pod!" she said so he took out the last metal-eating balloon just as the Pod bearded down on them, filling the tunnel.

He heaved it and the Pod vaporize din a cloud of green smoke that rolled over them. After that Sally's flashlight through the smoke and they were coughing.

"One minute before the next one." Sally said.

"Piece of cake. Hang on!" he said so they struck up the tunnel.

Sure enough they were at the trashed Brain Room, floor irregular from melting. Laser projectors now metal lumps, but the brain still pulsed with life. He and Sally emerged from the shadows, each holding a Deep Power Stone. Sally shook her head.

"But we have no idea how big the explosion will be. What if it destroys more than Doomsday?" she said.

"Like what?" he asked.

"Like the whole planet." she said and he started pacing.

"Not cool. What else can we do?" he said then snapped his fingers. "Got it! What if we put 'em together the other way?"
