Chapter Twelve

-Jennifer's POV-
Today's Halloween and despite my protest via testing my mom is still making me take my annoying little sister out, Quinn.

Don't get me wrong, I love my sister. She's just so annoying some times, especially when I want to go somewhere or do something she's always hovering over me or wanting to tag along, and of course my mother makes me take her with me or makes me involve her in whatever am doing.
"She just wants to be like her big sister!" Is what she tells me. Still it's both annoying and flattering that someone wants to be exactly like you.

It sucks even more that 1. I still have to go to school today because apparently Halloween isn't a Holiday' to the school district, and 2. I don't have a car! So not only do I have to walk to school from JC's but I also have to walk back home!

As I walk along the cement gum covered sidewalk, I hear something behind me. I stop in mid step as I hear the scraping of a shoe hitting the sidewalk echo behind me. I whip around quickly as possible to see nothing behind me. I let out a breathe I've been holding and watch the small fog it makes in the cold October air.

Slowly I turn around to continue my commute to school when I suddenly hit a stiff surface smelling of pine and oak.
Two hands grasp my back keeping me pinned to the stiff pine smelling surface. I feel my heart rate sky rocket through me as I start to panic, I begin hitting the stranger with my fist while screaming out muffled words, "LET GO OF ME! HELP! RAPE! HELP!" I start to thrash my body and start to kick my feet while still pounding on the stone hard surface. I start to hear a deep chuckle as his grip slightly but still firmly lets me go a bit, I quickly look out to a Familiar face holding back a slight laugh with a smirk. "Rape?"

Winter laughs out uncontrollably. I push him away while he holds his stomach from the laughter. "Damnit Winter!" I fume at him. "You scared the shit out of me!" I frown at the still laughing prick in front of me.
I tap my foot impatiently as I wait for him to finally catch his breathe. He slowly wipes a tear from his eye before looking down at me. "Hate to break it to you sweetheart but that was kinda the idea." He finally speaks with a wide grin plastered on his stone like features. I roll my eyes before I look up at him, "Your such a prick." I glare at him before pushing past him but before I even make it five steps I feel him grasp my wrist. He twirls me around until am once again facing him. This time all humor is wiped off his face and is instead replaced with a look of worry and concern. "Hey, look Jenn. I wasn't trying to make you mad, it was just a joke. I just wanted to surprise you is all.." He trails off looking towards the gum and leafed covered ground. I follow his gaze in thought before taking my free hand and place it upon his broad shoulder he quickly looks back at me meeting my gaze. "I know am not really all that mad, I'am just kinda pissed off this morning and you scaring me just made me snap a little. Okay? Am not upset."

I finish while holding his gaze, a small smile appears at the corners of his lips before he speaks softly. "Yeah? Okay. I get it." I smile at him once more before letting out an exasperated sigh. I take his hand away from my wrist and a frown reappears on his face in confusion. "Well I need to get to school so I'll see you around k?" I turn on my heel and start off down the sidewalk once more before I hear him walk up right beside me. I turn my head slightly to look up at him to see him already staring down at me. "I'll walk you." He simply states before looking away, I do the same and shake my shoulders slightly before simply saying back, "Okay then."

---15 minutes later---

Winter and I finally arrived at my school only to be greeted by the eyes of a couple of straggling students loitering outside the school before the late bell was to ring.
