Striking red heels clack against slick dark concrete pavements. Valerie looks up to the hue of a gray, dull sky, weighing the darkness of the clouds by how much rain they were sure to get later.
She wishes she could fly right about now, however when it's this wet outside with the threat of a storm, she's more prone to getting electrocuted with her board. Besides, she rather keep out of the vision of any of the new ruffian villains running around since they were sure to best her, using any vulnerabilities she has at the moment.
She hates to feel that she was being overrun by some villains, but it was better to get them later since Valerie has other things still on her plate.
Alongside her, Technus is in the middle of retelling a story of his greatest battles. Valerie notices how exuberant he is as he draws out the scenes with whisks of his hand. When Technus tells one of his stories, he makes sure you get the scene as accurate as permissible through his body language.
He makes an effort of stepping sleekly and sharp, not caring of the small puddles that splash on impact beneath his shiny black loafers. He imitates his entrance into the fray of his battle. He scans the park they were in from the rim of his iconic shades, surveying the quiet field.
"And I just look at them....Give 'em the ole thousand-yard stare..." He drawls, scrutinizing the trees and lamp poles around them, readying himself for when they uproot and charge. Valerie isn't as worried but slows her pace to take in his vision.
"Mhm," She says.
Technus suddenly whips his hands with practice when shooting his imaginary adversaries. He makes his own side effects with his mouth as he kicks, side steps, defends, then counter-attacks against his enemies.
As Tehcnis blows himself off his feet with unnatural air and pretends to kick one of his final foes. He lands on his feet in the most badass pose he could muster. Around him, the birds scatter from the trees.
Valerie nods slowly, truly taking in what she was privy to witness. If Technus is anything, it's charismatic.
Or dramatic.
Valerie appreciates the effort. Technus makes sure his legends live on whether you want to remember them or not.
The two partners fall back into step to resume patrolling. Besides the minor show Technus performed, the morning is still fairly peaceful. Cars hum in the distance, a person jogs outside the gate maybe once or twice in a while.
Everything is pretty normal in Amity Park. "How many times do they have you patrol this place?" Ask Technus.
"I get assigned twice or so a month. This has become a hot spot for hackers to try to hold water power for ransom so I might be patrolling more in the future." Says Valerie. She studies a few droplets that fall on her mask. It doesn't have time to drip in her vision as it is instantly swiped by her mask's window wiper the moment it rolls onto the opaque black slip.
"Assigned?" Ask Technus.
"I'm contracted under the government." She retorts.
"Ah, I see, you work for the man." He finally surmises, allowing the words to fall off his tongue in comical disgust.
"Do you know as long as you work for me, you work for him too, FYI." Valerie assesses their distance from the water plant. She takes note of the looming silhouette blocking the beginning rim of sunlight. They weren't too far now.
She's thankful she can get back soon and get back to her bed. She'll hand in her report to her dad as soon as she can so she can get back home and get some well-needed sleep.
