" You've been distracted lately, Kokushibou. "

His hunch was right -- he could no longer hide this from his master.

Muzan had known about the existence of the Tokitou and the attention Kokushibou had given to the twins for the past couple of months. Kneeling in front of his master with his head down, Kokushibou could only replied with silence.

" You've grown affection to the twins, I noticed. " Muzan clicked his tongue. " This has made you distracted from your real responsibility as an Uppermoon. "

Grabbing the Uppermoon 1's head, he twirled the hair painfully.

" You better take care of this, Kokushibou."

He tugged him hard, now burying his fingers inside the demon's head, plumping blood. Kokushibou bit his tongue to kept himself quiet as pain traveled through his body.

" Or I will. "

Muzan let go of him. Kokushibou gasped and coughed, his vision went blurry for a second. He watched his master glaring down at him in displease before walking out of the room.

_________

" Six eyes! Six eyes! "

Muichiro and Yuichiro excitedly ran over to their favorite demon, beaming. Kokushibou didn't respond, but the twins were used to his silence behavior. They do the most talking.

" Look! " Muichiro pulled his yukata. " New! Mom made us new yukata! "

" Birthday! It's our birthday! " Yuichiro said.

" I know." Kokushibou reached into his pocket and pulled a box wrapped in a cloth. " Happy birthday...Yuichiro, Muichiro..."

" What's this? "

" Can we open it? "

" Not...when I am here. " Kokushibou stood up.

The twins smiled brightly at him. " Thank you, Six eyes! "

He nodded."...You can...return to your... parents."

He thought the twins would nodded and ran off, but was quite surprised to see them still standing one the same spot. The twins stared at him with curious looks.

" Are you okay? " Yuichiro asked.

" You look...sad." Muichiro said.

Kokushibou's eyes widened.

"...I am? "

The twins nodded.

The demon stayed silence, not knowing what to do. Yuichiro and Muichiro glanced at each other before moved towards Kokushibou and hugged him.

" It's okay, it's okay..." the youngest twin cooed.

" Don't be sad, Six eyes." the oldest commented. " If you're sad...we are too."

And with that, Kokushibou broke down.

He went to his knees and pulled the twins into a hug. His head dropped down, his long hair ticked the twins' face slightly.

For the first time since centuries, Kokushibou never felt so regretful on being a demon.

But he could not turned back now. He had sink too far into the dark abyss, no way out.

Why does that man has to be so noisy? Why does he has to be so irritating? Kokushibou felt a hatred blooming inside him for his master.

Looking at the twins now, Kokushibou understood why he stayed around for them.

Yuichiro and Muichiro reminded Kokushibou of him and Yoriichi. Usually whenever he remembered of his late twin, he felt envious and hatred. But never once he felt angry at the Tokitou twins.

Kokushibou missed the time when he was Mitchikatsu.

The twins patted his back. " There, there, baby okay. You okay." This was the method their mother used on them when they felt sad.

Kokushibou let out a sigh. He stood up back, the twins' hands in his.

" It's time...to go." He leaded them back to their house.

Once they reached the backdoor, Kokushibou patted the twins' head. His hands lingered longer than usual.

" Goodnight! " The twins whispered, as their parents were sleeping inside.

" ...Goodbye."

And with that, Kokushibou walked away.

Once inside their house, Muichiro and Yuichiro opened the box their friend had given them. Inside the box, were two pouches and a small folded paper.

The pouches smelled sweet. The twins pulled off the tiny strings, thinking there were candies inside. But all they see inside was a dust of purple substance. They opened the folded paper but since they still couldn't read, they just put it back in the box.

The twins didn't understand why they were given the purple dust, but nevertheless, they decided to keep it as it was given by their friend.

And had they knew how to read, they would see what their friend had written on it;

These are wisteria dust. It can ward off demons. Keep them with you all the time.

- Your friend, Six eyes
