Haruka has a crush on Tamaki. Tamaki is oblivious.

Tamaki doesn't notice the folded note on his desk at first.

He wasn't very attentive, and when it came to school, his focus was even worse. Even now, as the teacher gave a lecture, Tamaki was preoccupied with his own exhaustion.

He was as simple as ever. Iori had grown used to it and was not fond of the fact. Haruka, on the other hand, had become strangely infatuated with his classmate's antics.

After nearly knocking the note off the table with his arm, it finally caught his attention. He unfolds it messily, nearly ripping it in half; Careless yet curious. He skimmed through it with tired eyes. Written in blue pen was the brief but eye-catching statement, "I like you."

Haruka watched from afar, observant but not too observant. He hid his face behind a textbook, awaiting a reaction.

He'd discreetly placed the note on the desk earlier, in hopes of Tamaki seeing it.  Haruka was certain Tamaki would tell it was his handwriting. After all, they were close enough. At least, Haruka assumed so.

But it seems Haruka was wrong.

Tamaki sighs, crumpling the note and tossing it to the ground. Haruka gasps at the sight, gritting his teeth in agitation. But, there was nothing he could do for now as Tamaki had already gone back to sleep.

Once the lunch period approached, Haruka had already come up with a new plan. Though, it was hardly a plan, moreso a random spur of the moment decision.

He takes a deep breath and approaches Tamaki's desk.

The classroom is nearly empty aside from other sleeping kids and the quiet chattering of a few girls in the back of the classroom.

"Yotsuba," Haruka says, commanding attention.

Tamaki sits up, rubbing his eyes. He pouts, his vision hazy.

"Hm?" He hums, sleepily. Haruka was easily distraught by Tamaki's sudden expression that his thoughts slipped his mind all at once.

"I..." He begins, but he can't quite think straight. "I need your help."

"With what?"

"I- Uh," he stammers. He improvises, although the statement isn't exactly false. "Well, there's someone I like!"

"Oh," Tamaki responds, giving a fixed stare. "What do you want me to do?"

Haruka remains stiff before uttering, "I-I don't know. Give me advice or something."

Tamaki ponders it for a moment. "Well, if you like someone, just tell them."

Haruka is taken aback by the sudden suggestion, he shakes his head frantically, appalled by the idea.

"It's not that easy! What if I get rejected?"

"You won't if you confess properly."

"Well, how exactly do I do that?"

"Easy," Tamaki says. His expression changes, suddenly radiating with confidence. "Just give them a gift, something they would like."

"You really think that would work?"

"Yeah! If someone gave me snacks, I would probably love them forever!"

Haruka smiles, brimming with excitement. "I'll do it, then!"

The following day, during their lunch break, Haruka approached Tamaki once more. A prideful stride. He held a gift bag in his hand, decorated poorly with stickers that had been indecisively peeled on and off again.

"Yotsuba," he calls out. He pulls a chair aside from the empty desk in front of Tamaki's. Haruka sits across from Tamaki, who had just been woken up from a light slumber. "I got you something."

Tamaki looks up at Haruka with a blank stare before pointing at himself in awe, "For me?"

Haruka nods, handing him the bag, which Tamaki graciously accepts. He doesn't question it. He peers inside, his eyes shine with pure thrill. He gasps, mouth open in excitement and disbelief.

"No way." Tamaki pulls out the box of King Pudding. His smile was so big that Haruka found himself smiling too. "Isumin, you're seriously the best!"

Haruka smiles, his ears warming up and his stomach jittery with nerves. He takes a deep breath.

"Yotsuba. There's something else, too."

"More pudding?"

"Ah, no," Haruka laughs shyly. "There's something I want to tell you."

"What is it?" Tamaki asks, already on the verge of opening a cup of pudding. But, Haruka reaches out his hand to stop him before he can get any further.

Haruka close his eyes tightly, taking a deep breath.

"I-I like you!"

Tamaki stares at him for a while, an eyebrow raised at the boy who'd just given him a clear confession. It's quiet for a moment. Until Tamaki finally gives his response.

"Thanks! I like you, too, Isumin!"

"No, you don't get it!" Haruka looks at him, concerned. "I like you. I like you more than a friend."

Tamaki is silent for a brief moment. He looks at the pudding before looking back at Haruka. "Like a best friend?"

Haruka sighs loudly in annoyance, "No! Not like a best friend! You mean more to me than that. When I say I like you, I mean, I really like you. I don't want to be just friends with you. You get it now?"

Haruka can feel his face prickle from embarrassment. Tamaki looks at him with a bland expression, one that Haruka couldn't read.

"Oh!" Tamaki says, coming to a realization.

Haruka smiles with relief, "So, you understand what I mean?"

"Yes!" Tamaki nods. "Close like brothers, right?"

Haruka's smile quickly turns into a disappointed frown.

"Huh? Brothers? You can't be serious. How could you possibly be this dumb! That's not even close!"

"Then, I don't get it," Tamaki murmurs, conflicted. "Oh, so you mean like a sister?"

Haruka narrows his eyebrows, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

"What? Now you're not making any sense!"

Tamaki isn't quite sure what to make of Haruka's sudden reaction. He doesn't think much of it anyway. He stares vacantly at Haruka who was red in the face and stammering words that Tamaki couldn't understand. Words that hadn't crossed his mind before. Haruka stares back at him, ashamed, unsure what else to say.

Tamaki places a sincere, warm hand on Haruka's. A moment of tranquility. Tamaki leans in closer, as he looks to Haruka with desperation.

"So... Can I eat my pudding now?"
