"Meghan! Why is the bus taking so long?" It had been an hour and I was tired from standing. We had just got home from the last day of high school, now it was time to enjoy summer vacation. "Come on, let's just walk. It'll be faster than the bus."We walked for about thirty minutes, and then I started to feel like someone was watching me. I whispered to Meghan that we should hurry and she didn't question me for once. We started to run and we slowed to a walking pace. As we reached the elevator to go up to our floor, I started looking for the keys to the apartment. The elevator stopped and I pulled the keys out of my bookbag. We walked inside and looked around. "That's odd, mom isn't home yet" I said. I hope nothing went wrong at the factory. we ate some cereal, and waited there wasn't much to do, we had to wait on mom to come home so that we could go to the beach like we had planned for summer vacation. We had no homework and we decided to sleep while we waited. We layed down and she curled into my back for warmth. I awoke with a startle, the room was ice cold. Meghan was still curled up beside me, except I had turned around to face her. I looked around, mom still wasn't home. I looked at the clock, 8:37 we had slept for four hours! If mom still wasn't home, there was something wrong. I wondered where she could've been. It was starting to get dark, I hoped nothing had happened.I woke Meghan up, and she curled up even closer to me for warmth. We got up and took our comforter with us, the floor was like ice, cold and slippery. We got ready and went outside. It had started to cool, it was getting dark. We had to find mom, there was definitely something going on, and we were going to figure it out, one way or another.
