"Call the girl." Mom says, handing my phone over. "Tell her your mom is a bitch. But tell her she knows that now." "Your not, Mom." I answer, taking my phone. "What is the real reason you suddenly made me come home?" I ask, putting my phone down. "I saw a show on tv about plane crashes and... I needed you here, it took me back." "I understand, mom." I answer. "I'm sorry for being such a bitch." "No, Liz." Mom hugs me. "I am sorry." "Call April." She adds. "It's up to you if you tell the real story or not, but you owe her an explanation." "Thanks, Mom." I smile. After my mom leaves I immediately call April.
"Hey, are you alright?"
"I'm fine, April, my mom was freaking out about a tv show."
"She needed you home right away for some stupid tv show?"
"It wasn't like that."
"What was it like then?"
"It's quite personal, and quite a long story, but I feel like I owe you."
"Only if you want to, I've got plenty of time."
"Well... My mom saw a tv show about plane crashes and it took her back. You see... When I was really young my parents wanted to go on a delayed honeymoon, because they didn't have the money to go right after they married. But everything went wrong, the plane malfunctioned, it couldn't be helped, me and my mother barely survived, my father wasn't so lucky, and just like that.. our lives changed forever. I see it when mom plays me an old video of her and dad, they were so in love, both my parents grew up always being by themselves, being missunderstood, they finally found their soulmate and just like that.. all my mom ever had was gone, she started drinking.. a lot, I was raised by my grandparents for the biggest part of my life, my mom was too depressed to take care of me, always drinking the pain away, knowing it didn't change a thing. I don't hate her for it, I just want to be here for her now, and she needed me right now."
"I... Don't really know what to say... Your mother is very lucky to have you as a daughter."
"Thank you. She is also scared, you are all I have... And... My mom isn't to fond of that, she says she acknowledges that it was wrong though."
"I can't blame your mom, we'll see how this goes. Stay strong, Liz. I love you."
"I love you too, April."
I hang up, and staring at the black screen of my phone in my hand, I find myself smiling. "I love her."Sorry for the long wait, I had problems with my phone and deleted.the app, it won't happen again, I promise.
