A three-part Story for the 3rd Chapter

Pretty sure people rarely read this but if they do end up doing so: be warned that this is crudely done, probably not well written and my story ideas at midnight.

The Witch - She didn't understand

She didn't understand, she'd played by the rules the same as everyone else, never stepping a toe out of line.

She'd never strayed into the spotlight, had a small unremarkable job helping out in an apothecary, looking back that might not have been the best job to pick, but it was the only one that had even thought of taking her on and she'd needed it to survive, but she'd happy just helping people out whenever she could no matter what it had been.

 Maybe that was it. Maybe if she hadn't helped that child out and grown close to them this wouldn't have happened, that was when everything started. 

Oh, the child, the poor child, how she hoped they were ok. They hadn't done anything wrong, they were just so misunderstood. If only their birth had been different. 

She shouldn't have helped them out, shouldn't have tried to ease their struggle and help them understand it. 

Now they were both going to pay the price, she just hoped she got the worst of it.

Finally lifting her head to look out at the mob staring and jeering below her while throwing stones, someone among them screeched, "Witch! You got what you asked for!" 

Tearing her eyes from the crowd, she turned her gaze to the starry night above as the heat grew to become unbearable, flames flickering all around her hungry for the taste of her flesh. 

One last time she prayed to the Lord to watch over the child, protect him, and help him survive in this merciless world. As she closed her eyes and succumbed to the excruciating pain, she thanked the Lord her God for giving her an escape from this world.

The Boy - He would never be understood 

All the forbidden memories of his childhood came back as he trudges slowly up the hill 

The Girl - She was now understood ... yet to come
