Lena wasn't sure if it was her imagination or the concussion – maybe a little of both - but she could have sworn she heard brainy say that her mother was crying. Maybe she was dreaming. She had been knocked unconscious when her wheelchair was rammed into Kara's chamber but was barely conscious Brainy was examining her, like being trapped in a dream world, able to hear and feel but not see or speak.

Kara.

She knows she heard the sound of the chamber breaking when it fell over. Who knows how long it had taken for someone to realize that they were trouble, there were alarms all over the DEO right? Surely, if nothing else, someone MUST have heard the chamber fall! Every part of her body was SCREAMING in pain, but she needed to find Kara! She had to know that she was ok! Finally able to open her eyes she tried to look around her, but was unable to move her neck. Someone had put some sort of brace on her neck – most likely because of the fall – and she knew that she would likely cause herself even more pain if she were to try to get up, but she had to try!

"I can do this!"

Lena was trying – and failing – to give herself a pep talk to get out of the bed and look for Kara when she heard footsteps coming into the room, and then with a burst of air, someone was beside her holding her hand.

"Lena!! NO! You have to stay still! Please, just lay still for me, ok?"

Was she dreaming? It couldn't have been that long ago that she was knocked unconscious could it?

"Kara? How are you out of the chamber? I saw her! I saw Eve! Right before I passed out, I saw her! She was..." Kara placed her hand gently on her cheek to calm her.

"Lena, its ok! Take a breath! You've been out for 4 days! Brainy thought originally that you'd just been knocked unconscious, but when you didn't wake up several hours later, they knew something else was wrong. Alex ran some tests and they found out that you had more than just a mild concussion! Your brain was bleeding, Lena! They were able to fix it, but they were afraid...they were afraid you wouldn't wake up!"

No wonder she felt like her head was in a vice grip. Lena had had concussions before, but this was so much more painful.

"Kara! Thank God you're ok!"

Lena couldn't help but start to tear up. Kara was here, she was alive! She was holding her hand!

"Me? Of course I'm ok! I'm the girl of steel!" Kara laughed nervously. They both knew how close she came to NOT being ok. "I'm just glad YOU are ok! I don't know what I would have done if I'd lost you before...before I got to..."

For the first time since Kara had come into the room, she was staring into those ocean blue eyes, drowning in their beauty. Before she could speak, Kara's hand was on her cheek staring right back at here. Lena could have stared into those eyes forever and it wouldn't have been long enough, yet she found herself closing her eyes in favor of feeling Kara's lips pressed gently to her own. Maybe it was the concussion, but Lena felt like she was floating, surrounded by a sea of stars. She may have been in pain before, but now she felt nothing. It was like Kissing Kara was the most powerful pain medicine and she had NO intention of giving it up any time soon!

"Lena, dear! You're awake."

Damnit. Of all times for her mother to come in. I was Kara who broke their kiss, stepping aside so Lillian could come closer. Lena prepared herself for the inevitable lecture about Luthors and Supers and Aliens and Humans and blah blah blah.

"Save your breath, mother. I don't care what you say, I love Kara and I have no intention of..."

Kara put her hand on Lena's shoulder, and moved into her line of sight.
