Sure, sure, the whole 'best friends to lovers' thing was pretty cliche, Edd knew that. But neither of the boys cared, because none of that mattered to them anymore. And while their roommates cared to an unreasonable extent, it didn't alter their view of one another at all. It's insane how little the world around you matters when your lips lock with the person you've been in love with for the past six years of your life.

And this is exactly what Tom and Edd were experiencing as they sat on their couch at 9 pm that Friday night. As their faces pulled apart from each other's, Edd looked deep into Tom's eyes. "We're crazy for this, huh?" Tom laughed a little to himself, "A little?" Edd smiled, and leaned in to kiss him again. Tom picked his head up from Edd's lap, and met him shoulder to shoulder, never unlocking the kiss. He propped himself up with a hand on either of Edd's thighs, and Edd wrapped his legs around Tom's back as the kiss went on. That's when it happened. That very perfect moment, the pivotal point between passionate intensity and pure act of love, that's when they heard the doorknob begin to turn. "Shit." Tom whispered, and threw himself off the couch. Edd repositioned himself as he caught his breath and adjusted his hoodie. Tom fell to his knees and then jumped up to sprint to the kitchen before the door was able to swing open.

"Hey guys!" Matt greeted politely as he opened the door and let it shut behind him. "Hey." Tom and Edd both responded simultaneously, opening a hint of suspicion in Matt's mind, but he let it be. "I just got some groceries.." He set them down on the table and began walking to the hallway, "I'll put them up when I get out of the shower." The door shut and the water began to run, thus cueing that it was safe to continue.

Edd stood up from the couch when Tom walked over. He grabbed Tom's hoodie strings and pulled his face down to meet his so they could kiss again. Tom wrapped his arms around Edd's back, and pulled them both down to the couch. Fumbling with Edd's hair, Tom's knees bent around Edd's sides. Edd sat up slightly to lay himself on Tom's torso and lap, and smiled. "We have like .. an hour." Tom smiled back, "I know." Edd laid his head on Tom's chest, and hummed. Tom picked up one of his legs to lay it over Edd's back as they both closed their eyes. Perfect. That's exactly what they were, perfect for each other, perfect to each other, perfectly perfect.
