I looked around the room I had called mine for the past year and sighed. As much as I missed San Antonio, I was going to miss Amarillo almost as much.

This whole entire year in Amarillo that we spent here was fun, but nothing compared to all the fun I would have with Ivy as soon as I got back to San Antonio. My mom's job had sent her out here to work for a year with the promise that we could return to San Antonio the following year, which was a big deal to me especially because it's my senior year. At least it was still inside the Texas state lines and not anything way up north or anything.

I was completely psyched to see my best friend, Ivy, again. We had only been able to visit once since I moved. We had skyped, called, and texted, but nothing could really catch me up besides being there. San Antonio was a really fun place to be.

As I put my sunglasses, my phone charger, and my notebook and pencils into the last, and smallest, box left in my room, I sealed it up and carried it out, leaving a kiss mark on my wall above the lightswitch.

When I got outside, my little brother Finn sat on the lawn playing his Nintendo with his headphones in his ears. Thankfully I saw him before I ran into him. He was probably playing pokemon again, but I couldn't judge him because even I, myself, found the game interesting at the age of 18.

My mom was directing the men inside the house on how to put the furniture into the truck. It wasn't really her job, but apparently she felt like she had power over the conversation like usual. I sat my box in the car instead of the moving van because it held my necessities that I could possibly need in the car.  Ignoring my mom yelling my name, I went back inside where my dad was sitting at the counter drinking his coffee.

"I actually think I might miss it here just a little bit," he said smiling. Honestly, my dad hated it when we moved here. The money was good, so we really had no other choice other than to do it.

"Same," I said, sitting beside him.

"But you know I totally miss San Antonio more," he grinned.

"Of course, who wouldn't?" I said, clicking away on my phone.

As my dad got up to wash his mug out, he asked, "Are you ready for the hour drive back to San Antonio?"

"An hour in a car with mom, yay" I said as sarcastically as I could.

"It won't be that bad, I promise. Maybe she'll even let you play some of your music on the car speakers. It's only an hour Em," He said.

Of course, he tried to turn this into a positive thing. My dad has always been like that. Calm, cool, positive, and overall a great guy. I've always been daddy's little girl. But of course, that means mom and I don't get along that well. She always wants everything accurate and precise and if one thing is messed up, she loses it. I'm way too laid back to be like that.

"Yeah," I said, "I just wish Jasper was here."

"I miss him too," he said looking down. His face went from sadness to happiness quickly though.

"Alright Em, I think it's time to go back to the best city on earth," he said, motioning for me to follow.

When we were outside, I took one final glance at the house. Right as I placed one foot in the car, I whispered "Goodbye Amarillo," and shut the door as I got in.

When I pulled up to the house I had grown up in since I was born, I thought there would have been some sort of difference to it. Nevertheless, the house looked the exact same as it had when we left it. Not even the couch cushions were moved or the leaves on the plants astray.
