AN: ngl, I'm not super proud of this one. There are two pov, it shouldn't be too confusing- at least I hope so. Anyway, hope everyone's safe and fine!
Nick's eyes opened slowly, naturally adjusting to the peaks of sunlight coming through the old curtains, immersing the room in a peaceful atmosphere. The jet lag had still an effect on him, as he instantly felt the pain in his skull. Or was it the alcohol from last night?
His brain first tried to process where he was and whose body was sprawled on his.
A hotel room, smaller than the one he'd settled in the day before. His mouth curved into a lazy smile at the sight of her. It was like an experiment he would have never dared to think about. And yet here they were, cuddling as if they'd been doing it for years. He didn't want–couldn't let her go, selfishly hoping he could hold her for a few more minutes. So he closed his eyes again, subconsciously scooting her closer.
Memories of last night flooded his mind. He remembered coming back here, laughing ridiculously loud at something she'd said before she shushed him with an equally amused "don't wake them up!". They'd talked for long minutes until their eyelids felt too heavy to carry on, and her breath on his face became slower. One thing he remembered was their bodies drifting off at a reasonable and friendly distance, so how did they end up like this?
Might be a message, he thought.
He enjoyed the silence for a moment when it was just them until someone broke through the door.
His eyes shot open again, his cheeks burning in embarrassment as he looked over at Evie, freezing on her spot as she whispered low apologies.
Awesome, now she'll think something happened.
He tried to sit but found himself stuck – not that he complained. Instead, he stayed on his back, his head slightly raised.
"Is she sleeping?" she mouthed over at him, as if it wasn't so obvious.
"Um, I think she is," he whispered back, stealing a quick glance at Ada, her chest heaving slowly.
She rolled over with a deeper breath, curling her body under the sheets.
Evie's eyes lighted with amusement, and she turned around to put her hand on the knob. With one last look, she left the room, and his head hit the pillow again with a sigh.

Despite my doubts and the presence next to me until then, I woke up alone. Nick wasn't there, leaving me alone in the wrinkled sheets with his phone buzzing continuously on the night table. I dug my head into the pillow and shifted around, not ready to get up yet and trying my hardest to ignore the noises.
The device kept buzzing, and with a sigh I climbed out of bed, cautiously avoiding the mess all around. His suitcase was lying beside the door.
I grabbed a pair of jeans and a shirt from one of the stacks of clothes, trying desperately to suppress the anxiety bubbling in my stomach. Did he leave, thinking all of this had been a mistake? I was still wearing my dress from last night; at least it relieved me from any uncomfortable thoughts.
I picked up my phone on the way to the bathroom, typing up a calm "where are you?" when I almost got knocked out by the door opening.
I stepped away briskly, mouth opening in embarrassment as Nick closed the door behind him. His hair was still damp, his cheeks slightly flushed from the warmth of the room.
"Hey," he smiled warmly, oblivious to my previous paranoia.
"I thought you left," I breathed out, relieved that he was still here and visibly not disturbed.
