❝You're free for the night, Caddel. ❞ my boss said quickly.
I check if I had my wallet, phone, keys and cigarettes with me and after confirming that I do, I say goodbye to my colleagues and leave.
As soon as I get outside I light a cigar, the third in the past two hours.
❝What if I get a drink or two before going home where I'll eat some boring stuff while I watch some boring TV show? I haven't drank for some time. ❞ I make up my mind and make my way to the bar I usually go to.
❝Oh, officer Caddel, haven't seen for like... a week? How's work doing? ❞ The bartender asks giving me a smile.
❝A Cuba Libre. ❞ I say looking at the man.
❝Come right away. ❞
I look around the bar bored as I wait for my drink.
❝A Cuba Libre. ❞ The bartered said placing the glass in front of me.
❝Thanks. ❞I say and sip the drink, enjoying the burning feeling.
These past days I've been doing more than usual. I chose this city because I thought it would be pretty peaceful, but suddenly murders began to happen out of nowhere.
❝Feel free to speak, you seem troubled and I'm getting quite bored here, bring some murder case and theories to entertain me. ❞ The bartender said, leaning over the counter, supporting his head with his palms.
I sight and open my mouth.
❝Today we found another body, a suicide case, in the forest. Or that's whats believed, my gut feeling it's telling me it's murder. All the deaths these past moths, some believe they are made by different people, but I think it's one mind behind them all.❞
The bartender raises his eyebrow.
❝Why do you think so? ❞He asks.
❝I'm not sure either. The methods used are different, unlike other serial killers who found a method and stuck with it. But this can also be a smart move to make people believe it's not a serial killer case and just random murderers. ❞I explain further, finishing my drink. I look at the three cigars left in my pack and sight.
❝What kind of person may be behind all those murders? ❞ The bartender asks.
❝I don't know, yet. I'm yet to discover if the victims have something in common or they are chosen randomly. ❞I explain taking a cigarette out, lighting it.
