Darkness.

That was everything what my eyes could see.

My breathing was weak. Not because I couldn’t breathe. I didn't want to breathe.

Why breathe? Why I had to live that day? Again, the pain flooded me, as if I were about to relive everything.

Like my nightmare, always the same, were to become real at any time.

Not for the first time. And certainly not for the last time.

A knock at the door made my eyes turn away from snow that covered the entire landscape outside my house.

It took me a few seconds to awake from my thoughts and I left the window, walking with short and slow steps to the door of the house.

I closed my eyes briefly, already knowing who I'll find in the other side of the dark wood, and turned the cold doorknob.

Every year were the same thing.

"Hi, Thomas" Ki Hong, my younger brother, greeted me with a warm voice.

"Hi, Ki Hong" I whispered back, and seeing that he stretched his arms toward me, I returned his embrace.

"How are you?" He asked, and I pulled back a step, letting him enter.

"As always" I smiled weakly, helping him to take his coat "Living"

Ki Hong sighed low , looking at me with desolation.

"You know what I came here to do." He said, his voice loud enough for me to hear, but someone a little farther couldn't hear "I won't give up this time"

Just like him, I turn down my head and stared at the floor. I knew what he wanted, but he didn't seem to understand how much he was asking for.

I wanted to be able to do what he wanted, as I always dedicated myself to do, after all, he was my only brother.

But he needed to understand that I was going through a very difficult time in my life, and I needed time to rebuild me. How long? Maybe all the time that was left to me.

"Ki Hong..." I muttered, unable to be more energetic "Please. Don't force me to say no for you again."

We stayed a few seconds in silence, without courage to say anything more, and I raised my eyes to look at him and he did the same.

His eyes stared at me with an intensity of feelings, all of them very conflicting. It seemed that, finally, he knew how much he was asking.

"Thomas..." He called me, with a sad voice, approaching me and putting both hands on my shoulders "It was so long ago..."

"You know it wasn't" I closed my eyes, feeling them fill with tears suddenly seeing his eyes full of pain "You know that time hasn't passed for me"
