Chapter 19 - Happy Happy Happy

It's the day before Lexi's surprise birthday party, and Louis and Harry are running through the isles of a store aimlessly.

They're trying to look for a present to get her and some decorations, but honestly, this place isn't any help. "This place is shit. Next stop?" Louis turns to Harry and sees him looking at a cat stuffed animal with a certain look in his eyes.

"Hm? Oh yeah, sure." Harry tries to hide the disappointment in his voice, but Louis doesn't miss it. "Hold on a sec, I have to go to the loo. Wait for me in the car?" Louis nods, but he has to do something first.

When Harry goes off to the toilets, he picks up the stuffed cat that Harry was eyeing and walks towards the cash register. Louis knows Harry will say something like, "it's not my birthday, it's Lexi's. You should have given it to her." But Louis knows he wants it, so he's getting it for him.

He does what Harry told him to and waits for him in the car, turning the AC off because they really don't need that in this weather.

After a couple minutes he see Harry walking over to the car, soon getting into the passenger seat. Harry notices the bag in the car and asks, "Louis? Since when did you get something? I didn't see you at the register."

"That's because you were in the bathroom, love." Louis puts his seatbelt on and starts the car, pulling out of the parking lot safely.

"What's in it?"

"Check for yourself." Louis says, trying to contain his excitement while turning the corner. He gets really excited and jumpy whenever he gets Harry a gift. Harry hates it when Louis spends his money on him, but Louis loves to treat his baby.

Harry seems to notice because right before he opens the bag he says, "Louis..." with suspicious eyes. He sighs when he sees the stuffed animal but you can see it in his eyes that he loves it.

"Do you like it?" Louis asks with a hopeful voice. "I saw you looking at it so..." "Of course I love it, I just don't want you spending money on me." Harry replied sheepishly.

Louis puts on a fake sad face. "Well I could return it back to the shop if you want-" "No!" Harry interrupts. "I-I mean no, no I love it. Thank you, baby."

Louis smiles, happy that his "plan" to get Harry to enjoy the gift worked, and stops at a red light to reach over and kiss Harry's cheek. "Of course, Haz."

"So, how about Party City?" (I know there isn't a Party City in Doncaster, but just pretend there is.)

Harry snorts but agrees anyways. "You got a problem with Party City, Haz?" "No, just..there's usually nothing there."

When they get to the store and walk around, Louis decides that Harry is right. There is absolutely nothing here that screams, Lexi.

Harry offers a suggestion to get her some clothes from the nearest clothing place, figuring she'll like it enough to keep it. Louis also thinks it will be funny to get her a turtle stuffed animal, since she's scared of them. Harry disagrees but let's him go through with it because he loves to see his eyes light up.

They park in the driveway of Harry's house and walk in with their bags gripped in their hands. They eventually managed to find some sort of decorations that are fit for a birthday party.
