Getting to school was such a bore, all we did was change the radio each time the other liked the music and traded more insults. Walking to the front Gate had girls and even some guys crowding around Jaimie, me I'm content with the sidelines but nope some of my friends from football dragged me out from behind Jaimie and we started off into our complicated play strategies coach wants us to learn. "Silver, you want me to be your spotter today at practice?" Nick, the running back on the team asks me after getting into a debate on play 4. "Well uh Jaimie is usually my spotter..." I look to where he is surrounded by his entourage and shrug. "Sure, why not?" He smiles and I hear a few girls behind me give out dreamy sighs. I pantomime throwing up, causing the guys to laugh and give me high fives. Then wouldn't you know it the biggest bastard on the team gets here. "Yo! Lesbian!" I sigh knowing he's calling me. "What, Faggot?" I ask in a fake sugary sweet voice, I have nothing against gays or bi's or anyone like that I just know it pisses him off. The guys around me grinning knowing this isn't going to end well, they part like the Red Sea in a line leading from him directly to me. He sneers down at me, his face a pimply mess and his hair greasy and tangled. He stands in front of me barely a foot separating us. "What the fuck did you call me, Slut?" "Ohh 'Slut', expanding our vocabulary are we?" I sneer right back at him. Up close his jersey is all tattered and stained with glob only knows what. As my words register in his small mind he scowls even harder making his face turn a nasty red. "What? Did I use a big word? Vo-cab-u-lary." I pernounced or slowly as if talking to a mentally slow person. I swear he looks furious, the tips of his oddly shaped ears are a bright red and his nostrils flaring obscenely. He raises his fist readying himself to punch me. He swings, aiming for my face. I don't flinch I catch his wrist, pressing down tightly. "Walk away, Greg." comes from behind me, my hand still clamped down on his wrist his fist inches away from my face. "Fuck you, Nick." He spits out. Nick standing by my shoulder glaring at Greg. Jaimie comes up behind Greg pulling him away from me, angrily Greg swings into Jaimies' side knocking him to the floor. "Oh hell no!" I leap up and smash my fist into Greg's nose, making a loud sickening crack. I pick up Jaimie, using me as a crutch to support himself, Greg has his hands clutching his nose blood dripping through his fingers to the floor. Jaimie is like really mad, he keeps trying to pull out of my grasp and get at Greg. Greg was being held up by four of his friends from the team, they're straining with his weight as everyone laughed and shoved each other. I pushed everyone out of the way and took Jaimie back to his truck making him sit on the tailgate. "What the hell, James?!" I ask him, he looks up at me and shrugs. "You know not to get into it when Greg's there. I can handle myself, I don't need you or Nick to stand up for me." I tell him while sitting up next to him. "Now let me see this, you could have a broken rib or at least a huge ass bruise!" I slowly lift the edge of his jersey on the side where Greg punched him, gently touching the skin there slightly red already turning purple-ish. Hearing Jaimie gasp in pain as my fingers brush over his side. "Fuck! Coach is going to be pissed and now we're short a Terror Twin!" I yell, slamming my fist into the side of the truck wincing slightly at the pain. "Is that the only reason you're mad, Silver?" I look up at him as his whispered words reach me. "No, of course not, James. I'm mad because you got hurt, its my fault! I shouldn't have baited Greg. Now Coach is gonna chew our asses since three of his players can't play." "Its not your fault, Darlin'." He drawls sweetly. "Now why three players?" He asks me. "Cause you know I ain't gonna play without you." He glares at me, readying himself for a verbal battle that never comes as he remembers I don't change my mind so easily when it comes to him.
Well this has been an eventful morning.
RRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG!
The bell signaling the start of first period.
Fuck! Barley? I swear it feels like years since I woke up cuddled with Jaimie and now all this. Ugh.
