Albus Dumbledore sat in his office. Sitting opposite him was Grace Potter. Albus smiled. "It is nice to see you again," he said.

Grace nodded and smiled. "Likewise. Have you spoken to Harry? I know he will be mad. Hurt. But, I literally did this because I wasn't safe. I know I wasn't," she told him.

"Harry hasn't been told yet. But Minerva will tell the boy soon enough."

Grace sighed. "I wish I could have taken him with me. Protected him from those people. But it wasn't safe. For me. Or for him," she said.

"I understand that my dear. Harry will too. He will be glad he has someone else there for him. He will come around."

"Let's hope so."

Grace followed Albus to the staffroom. She took a deep breath. "I-I don't think I can do this," she said as she looked at him.

Albus turned back to her. "You can."

Grace looked at him. "It's Severus I'm more concerned about. He will literally make my life hell," she told him.

"Severus will be angry. Yes. But he will understand you did this for the greater good."

Grace scoffed. "You'd like to think that. I know him remember. And well... he's not exactly a forgiving soul," she told him.

"That is true. But he always had a soft spot for you. Even more so than Lily."

"Now we both know that isn't true. But thank you. I guess," Grace mumbled as she sighed. "I suppose we should get this over and done with."

Albus nodded. He looked to her and sighed. "It won't be too bad."

****
Grace followed Albus into the staffroom. He got everyone's attention. "As you are all aware, Grace Potter was presumed dead when Lily and James were killed. That however was a lie. And at my request, she went into hiding as Voldemort wanted her for himself."

Grace stood up the corner. Everyone's eyes turned to her. She saw the look of hurt on her sister's face. Albus continued. "This was all my idea. I did what I had to, to protect a young vulnerable girl from turning to the dark."

When the meeting was over, Skye walked over. "I missed you so much. You couldn't write to me?" She asked.

"I wanted to. But... Albus said it was wise for me not to. He said my letters could have been traced."

Skye pulled her younger sister into a hug. She smiled. "You're back now. That's all that matters," she said.

****

Severus was sitting in his classroom. He looked up as Grace walked in. "I have nothing to say to you," he said.

Grace nodded. "That may be. But we need to talk. I'm sorry for what happened. I had to do this. To protect myself, my sister and my nephew. Don't act like you wouldn't do the same."

"No."

Grace rolled her eyes. "You can be mad all you want. But at the end of the day, my family will always come first. You're just mad that I didn't tell you. That Albus didn't tell you. And I'm sorry. But you weren't important at that time."

Severus turned to her. "You haven't been important to me since the moment you faked your death. Grace Potter. The one who escaped while Lily died. It should have been you," he spat.

Grace felt like she had been stabbed. She nodded. "Fine. If you feel that way, then I guess we have nothing to say," she said as she turned and walked out.

****

Skye smiled as she saw Grace. She looked at her. "I take it your conversation with Severus didn't go well?" She asked.

Grace shook her head. "Not at all. He said it should have been me instead of Lily that died. That's how I know I never meant anything to him."

Skye sighed. "He's just mad. I am too. But I know you did this for the greater good. In time, he will get over it. I promise you," she told her.

"I don't know. Maybe I should never have come back. I just don't wanna have to deal with the questions and the looks about why I did it. Why I faked my own death. I was so lonely Skye. I had no one. And it was horrible," Grace said as she wiped away a tear that fell.

****

Grace was sitting in the staffroom. She looked up as Severus walked in. "I believe I should apologise for what I said earlier," he said.

Grace shrugged as she looked at him. "Why? We both know you meant every word. You wish it was me who died instead of Lily. That's okay. I'd mean it too," she told him.

Severus looked into her blue eyes. She didn't inherit the green eyes. But she had a shade of blue. "When I thought you had died, I blamed myself for it."

Grace sighed. She wiped away another tear that had fallen. "I did what I had to. And I'm sorry if you were mad. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat. And let's not kid ourselves Sev. You do wish it was me who died and not Lily. And that's okay."

Severus looked to her. But would things ever go back to how they used to be? Or would Grace be tempted by another man?
