I awake again
she is over me
she looks concerned
what happened, she says
I stay quiet
we are not in school
we are behind mcdonalds
I look at her confused
I didn't think you would
want to be at school, she says
I nod
what happened, she says again
I shake my head
I can't tell you, I say
why not, she says
I'll be punished, I say
I show my scars
she covers her mouth
tears are in her eyes
graham, she says
please tell me
I bite my lip
and speak
faith I'm schizophrenic
I see shadows
they hurt me
tell me to hurt myself
control me
make me so things I don't want to
and I can't stop it
medication doesn't help
I'll probably have more scars tomorrow
for telling you
but I don't care
she is crying now
I'm going to help you, she says
I smile sadly
I wish you could, I say
then your wish will be granted, she says
and I actually believe her
until I see it snarling at me
