it was strange how just when you thought you were healing from a tragedy, everything crashed down again.

rona had come over after school to study with seokhoon only to hear shouting coming from inside the penthouse. when she, seokhoon, and seokkyung rushed in to see what happened, there he was: the monster who had ruthlessly stabbed her when she was lying on the staircase, injured. the scene had replayed in her nightmares every night and she woke up in a cold sweat, the only thing keeping her going was the belief that he would never come back. but there he stood in front of her somehow out of prison, as if her prayers that he would be stuck there forever went completely unanswered. but the worst part was his expression, an unconcerned smile as if nothing had happened and he had done absolute nothing wrong and had not made the past six months a fucking hell for her-

"your hair looks pretty, bae rona," he said, grinning at her and tears filled her eyes. the seemingly harmless compliment was him mocking the grave injury he had given her and he intended her to know that he didn't care or feel any remorse at all. when he walked past her to leave, a chilling frost swept over her and she froze, unable to move away as he brushed past her. she turned and looked after him in terror to make sure he was really gone and tears streamed down her cheeks.

a collective sigh of relief echoed in the entrance as dantae finally left. seokhoon said something and suryeon answered but rona couldn't hear anything. her breaths were shortening and her legs felt weak and before she knew it her legs gave out and she collapsed to the floor.

it was only then that her condition was noticed and suryeon gasped when she remembered rona was there. she helped her stand up and hugged her tightly, apologizing for what had happened. "seokhoon-ah, take her to the study room to relax," suryeon ordered. seokhoon's breath caught, looking at the state she was in and he rushed over, wrapping his arm around her protectively and led her to the room.

once they were there, she took her pills that she used for when her trauma was badly triggered. she swallowed and set down the cup, her head falling forward in exhaustion.

seokhoon took her hands in his and stroked them comfortingly. "i won't let him come here again," he promised, looking her in the eyes, but she couldn't bring herself to hold his gaze. "i'm so sorry."

"you didn't know appa was out?" seokkyung cut in from where she stood against the desk, having followed them to the study room even though they all knew didn't care about rona's wellbeing at all. "he called me earlier today."

seokhoon stood up immediately. "why did you pick up? did you forget we don't have a dad anymore?!"

"you can't make him go away by pretending he doesn't exist. even the cops said logan was the one who killed our real mother!" seokkyung snapped.

"are you really that stupid, you idiot?!" seokhoon yelled and both seokkyung and rona flinched.

"i'll get going now," rona said quietly, packing up her pills quickly and rushed out the door. she was tired and staying around to hear them fight would make her headache worse than it already was.

she heard the door open behind her as she left. "rona, wait for me."

she really wanted to leave, but something in his voice made her stop where she was. "i'm sorry about that, let me walk you home," he offered and she was about to refuse when she realized then the possibility that dantae might be waiting outside to hurt her the moment she was alone. he would finish her off for good so she wasn't alive to speak the truth of what he had done to her.

"home?" suryeon walked up to them. "are you leaving already?"

rona composed herself to answer, hoping her voice wouldn't betray the panic she was feeling in that moment. "sorry, i feel tired, so i'm going home to rest, ahjumma," she responded.
